BARACK OBAMA WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
Big news from Norway: President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Kind of puts that whole Chicago thing in perspective, eh? The prize was awarded for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”
No doubt the cries of “USA! USA!” will be emanating from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show very soon. Seriously, this should be an interesting cable news cycle.
More at the AP here. This from the New York Times:
In a stunning surprise, the Nobel Committee announced Friday that it had awarded its annual peace prize to President Obama “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” less than nine months after he took office…But the committee said it wanted to enhance Mr. Obama’s diplomatic efforts so far rather than reward him for events in the future.
