Ben Carson: Trump Has ‘Major Defects… Are There Better People? Probably.’
Former presidential candidate Ben Carson continued his lukewarm advocacy of Donald Trump, saying during a radio interview that there were “better people” and that Trump had “major defects.”
“He has some major defects, there’s no question about it, just like the rest of us,” Carson said in an interview with John Catsimatidis on Sunday. “But I think he is willing to listen to other people.”
Carson stressed the need for presidential candidates to speak out about America’s weak standing on the world stage and its economic issues. “He’s probably the person who is most likely to do that. Are there better people? Probably. But one of the things we have to do is broaden our pool from which we select our leaders.”
As a Trump surrogate, Carson has remarkably tepid when it comes to signing Trump’s praises, even saying at one point that he wished he had endorsed someone else.
