Ben Carson Won’t Do SNL Because Running for President Is ‘Very Serious’
Hillary Clinton has already appeared on SNL this season and Donald Trump is set to host next month. And so only time will tell when other candidates start popping up (which, given recent comments by the head of the FCC, could be soon).
But Ben Carson wants to make it absolutely clear that he has no interest in doing it because running for president is very serious business.
During an interview yesterday with Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, Carson was asked about whether he would appear on SNL and he said no.
Why? Because, he explained, “I think the presidency of the United States is a very serious thing. I don’t even want to begin to put it in the lightness of comedy.”
Yeah, this isn’t 2003, where you can just cameo in a Farrelly brothers movie and make jokes about losing patients or something.
