Betty White Charms The Pants Off Of Nation, Larry King

video

The Betty White publicity train continues Larry King Live appearance. Thirteen minutes of filler where Larry tries to think of the most provocative questions to ask the 88-year-old upcoming SNL host. Right off the bat? “What’s your thoughts on health care?” And then “Do you Twitter?” Totally relevant!

We like the part where Larry starts asking her if she was “loose” and “easy” back in her day. It’s like this interview was created soley to be cut into viral chunks and disseminated amongst the Betty White Internet contingent. But that would be such a cynical way of looking at networks cashing in on a hard-to-target demographic of web-savvy 20-somethings who don’t tune in to network programming, we’d just prefer to think of Larry King taking on more whimsical guests.

    Off of Larry King??

That’s something I never want to see.

I’m not going to rewatch it right now, but I’m pretty sure that in the Diane Sawyer conversation that I linked from a comment to GeekoSystem last week with Betty and the guy from Facebook, the Facebook dude said that his campaign had predated the Snickers commercial, but that’s when it took off.

Otherwise, I’ve linked from comments around the blogosphere for a couple of weeks, so I apologize if I’ve linked it previously from here… but, if you have two and a half hours to kill or willing to pace your way through one 30 minute segment at a time, the “Archive of American Television Interview” with Betty is terrific, especially the first couple, when she’s talking about early television and how she helped pioneer “syndicated” programming.

(Basically, they flew film from LA to New York)

And while I’m at it, there’s days worth of great interviews in the TVLegends archive. An index of those available for streaming on YouTube is available, here.

No mention of her repeating the joke where she called Palin a bitch and now attributes it to Craig Ferguson or his writers?

@rmbltmbl: Betty’s done Craig’s skit segment a couple of times and I’m sure no one believes Dave Foley is a relationship expert; Henry Winkler is an expert on saving money; Tim Meadows’s a reporter or scam artist; Prince Charles hosts a chat show or that Michal Caine is really in space.

It’s Betty White. She’s a pro and as she says in the clip, she’s not a backseat driver.
