Charlie Rangel Steps Down, Chris Matthews Blames Everyone Except Charlie Rangel

After the confusion last night about whether or not Congressman Charlie Rangel – head of the House Ways and Means Committee – was stepping down over several charges of unethical money routing and accepting comped corporate trips, the NY Democrat announced this morning that he would be taking a temporary leave of absence. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews can’t believe it.

Chris Matthews’ take on Rangel accepting (at the very least) corporate-sponsored travel to the Caribbean? “(It’s) not a big deal compared to some of the other stuff that’s out there right now.” He then goes on to accuse journalist-outlets like The New York Times for Rangel’s stepping down…forgetting of course, that if any media outlet is going to call someone on the table for taking freebies, it would be The Times.

Let me know when he gets around to saying criticisms of Mr. Rangel are “racially motivated”. Given his MO, it should happen around next Monday.

The Liberal blogs are already suggesting this is racial and MSNBC gets their talking points from the blogs. Rangel was so good at raising money, given his position on of writing tax codes, the other Democrats owe him big time.

The photo of Rangel lounging tax free in the Dominican Republic is more than enough to drive all the democrats out of office… Of course, it’s all racially motivated and instigated by conservatives.

Well that’s kind of strange, since whenever I was at home today everytime MSNBC reported on Rangel, they just reported that he was stepping down from his chairmanship until after the ehtics committee did their report. Nothing said about racism.

Thank God that only the few dozen MSNBC watchers had to hear Chris embarrass himself on national TeeVee like that.
Has anybody in management at that network considered arranging a psychiatric evaluation for Matthews? It really appears time for somebody to guide him to get help. He has lost his way.
