FBI Investigating Link Between San Bernardino Explosive Device and al-Qaeda Magazine
The FBI is investigating a potential link between the explosive device used by the San Bernardino shooters and instructions provided in an issue of the al-Qaeda magazine Inspire.
Yes, al-Qaeda has a magazine, and one of its most infamous entries is titled “Make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom.”
The design of an explosive device used by the shooters seemed a little familiar––close to instructions in the magazine––and the FBI said today they’re looking into it:

On CNN earlier this afternoon, Anthony May, a retired ATF explosives enforcement officer, noted how a 2014 issue of Inspire featured instructions about remote controlled vehicles to initiate devices that may be very similar to what the attackers used.
NBC News noted that both the attackers and the Boston Marathon bombers appeared to be using designs from the magazine.
