Glenn Beck Explains Why He Views Hurricane Irene As A ‘Blessing’

Wow, recently we east coast folks are finally getting a look at Mother Nature that we never get to see. First, we got to feel what one of those earthquake dealies is all about and, now, we’re preparing to get our biggest hurricane in years. Fortunately, there’s someone who can see the silver lining to all of this: Glenn Beck. On his radio show today, Beck promised that the hurricane could actually be a “blessing.”

Yeah? Well, we’re not too surprised that the only guy able to look on the bright side here is the guy who just moved far, far away. Thanks though!

As bitter as we may be while fighting over the Duane Reade’s last package of batteries, there is a reason to Beck’s comments besides newfound Texan gloating.

For years, Beck has been talking up the need to stockpile supplies due to what he sees as a coming “global disruption in food.” As such, he hopes this hurricane will teach people the need to be prepared and will work as a message from God that we’re not in control.

Huh. That’s a nice thought. However, if Beck’s ever back in the holy land, he should tell God just to leave a voicemail next time.
