Jews Everywhere Laugh as NY Times Forced to Correct References to ‘Yenta’ and ‘Shiva’
When (likely) goyim try to write about Jewish culture, it’s pretty much an open invitation for nitpicky Jewish moms everywhere to scrutinize every last word, amiright? We’d like to imagine that’s what happened with this New York Times article on Jewish dating app JSwipe.
The Times style section article, entitled “For Nice Jewish Guys, Swipe Right,” seems like your standard write-up of a nice young Jewish man who made it big by creating a Tinder-like app for lonely Jewish singles.
But then, at bottom, you notice a correction… and it’s a doozy:
Tsk-tsk, my mother would’ve said had she read the article in its original form. Doesn’t this Clare Malone writer lady know what a yenta is? And no, no, no… why would Jordan Morgan talk about her dating life while she’s mourning the death of her father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, or husband?!?!? What kind of nice Jewish girl is that?!?!
And then the conversation would’ve turned to why I don’t go apply to be the resident Jewish culture fact-checker at the Times. And whether my leather jacket is warm enough for this weather.
