Judge Denies Motion to Dismiss Charges Against Baltimore Cops in Freddie Gray’s Death
Remember the case of Freddie Gray‘s death and the six officers charged by Marilyn Mosby? Well, today a judge denied their motions to dismiss the charges and get Mosby taken off the case.
In the days following Mosby’s announcement, attorneys for the charged officers filed a motion accusing Mosby of several conflicts of interest and violating prosecutorial ethics. Mosby had dismissed the conflict of interest claims at the time.
Well, today, according to The Baltimore Sun, that motion was denied, along with another motion to get the charges dismissed. Judge Barry Williams said he did find some of Mosby’s remarks “troubling,” but said there was nothing that came close to a legitimate reason for her to be removed as prosecutor.
One of the defense attorneys had argued that Mosby’s invocation of the line “no justice, no peace” demonstrated a clear bias on her part towards anti-cop protesters.
