Laura Ingraham Condemned For Segment on U.S. ‘Demographic Changes’: It’s the ‘Swan Song of White Nationalism’
Fox News Laura Ingraham used her Wednesday night show to dabble in some hardcore white nationalist talking points, decrying “demographic changes” that have led to “the America that we know and love” ceasing to exist.
“In some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore,” Ingraham said during a lengthy tirade against “the left’s effort to remake America.”
“Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like. From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically, in some ways, the country has changed.”
“Now, much of this is related to both illegal, and in some cases legal immigration that, of course, progressives love,” she added.
At the end of her monologue, Ingraham said, “This is a national emergency and he must demand that Congress act now.”
And despite bemoaning “demographic changes,” she went on to claim her comments were not about race: “There is something slipping away in this country and it’s not about race or ethnicity. It’s what was once a common understanding by both parties that American citizenship is a privilege, and one that at a minimum requires respect for the rule of law and loyalty to our constitution.”
Nonetheless, Ingraham was quickly and brutally condemned on Twitter, with countless pundits, journalists, and even U.S. congressmen blasting her.
Check out a few of the reactions below:
The “alt-right” white supremacist movement has been in disarray since Charlottesville, but you can find some simiilar rhetoric on at least two prime-time Fox shows – consistently Tucker Carlson’s, now Ingraham’s. https://t.co/8WVzQozb4K

Dear Laura Ingraham: I served on active duty to defend your right to make racist statements.
America is not a race or demographic. It’s a beautiful & bold idea, based on life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness. You @IngrahamAngle are no more American than I am or others are. https://t.co/Op7rnjak5o

Today’s prominent white nationalists are filthy rich elitists like Laura Ingraham ($45 mil) and Tucker Carlson ($16 mil) who get 1 hour each night to broadcast their fear of brown people to millions of Americans. https://t.co/lJcSXXgKSu

Fox’s prime time lineup used to put a thin veil over the racism, but they’ve stopped pretending lately. https://t.co/ZIymHPhrSx

This is startling racism. They used to at least try to be subtle, but this is exactly the same language they used with Italians and Irish and Jews. “Massive demographic changes”? The country was built on “massive demographic changes”.
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature. https://t.co/ncIPVA3OEm

Fox News hosts have adopted the language of white nationalists, right down to the “white genocide” line https://t.co/xtB3GB0pXI https://t.co/PYOxtQ0mJW

It will be weird if things are ever somehow not the way they are now again and all these disgusting knobs fitting “white genocide” into all their shows have to go back to talking about taxes. https://t.co/78p094LV46

Hannity’s Mueller rants get the most attention, but Carlson’s and Ingraham’s drift towards white nationalism are probably more dangerous in the long term. https://t.co/RNsO8gIlhE

Policy details aside, it’s really worth considering that insisting people who are partially descended from Latin American immigrants (people like me!) aren’t authentically part of “the America we know and love” has really toxic consequences. https://t.co/cqylJV1VPg

This is a problem because the America I love is somewhere anyone can be welcomed if they’re willing to join the project—a nation bonded not by blood but by the belief that all men and women are created equal and endowed with the right to live in liberty and to try to be happy. https://t.co/NWVcqHQRJc
