Rachel Maddow and Others Rally Around Joy Reid Following Quasi-Apology: ‘Never Been Prouder to Work With Her’

Several of Joy Reid‘s colleagues are standing by her side after she apologized (ish) on her show AM Joy for newly unearthed homophobic posts from her old blog.
Even though Reid is sticking with her dubious claims that her blog was hacked and she never wrote the homophobic content, the MSNBC host opened her Saturday show with a quasi-apology.
“I genuinely do not believe I wrote those hateful things because they are completely alien to me,” Reid said.
After Reid gave her monologue she conversed with a panel of LGBT activists, and a number fellow MSNBCers took to Twitter to voice their support for her, including Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell. Much like the AM Joy panel, Reid’s colleagues focused squarely on the homophobic posts the host allegedly wrote — not on her and NBC’s stunningly dubious claims that a nefarious hacker somehow inserted fake anti-gay posts into her blog while she was writing it, without her knowledge.
Brains, guts, heart and soul — beloved Joy Reid has always been a treasured and brilliant colleague, but I’ve never been prouder to work with her than I am now. https://t.co/J95uL3CjMv

My friend and colleague @JoyAnnReid has always made me proud. This am she made me even prouder than usual on @amjoyshow. If you have never evolved on anything, that’s pretty sad.

Everyone of us will walk in @JoyAnnReid ‘s shoes some day – filled with remorse and regret over something we have said or done, but I predict that few will do so this eloquently. Sending support and admiration to you and your amazing panel and team @JoyAnnReid https://t.co/qV26Rcy6D9
