Multiple Senate Democrats Decry FBI Investigation: ‘This Whole Thing Is a Sham’

A number of Senate Democrats have already spoken out to criticize the FBI supplemental investigation into Brett Kavanaugh with the report being made available for members to read today.
Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Tim Kaine (D-VA) decried it as a “sham”:
I read the FBI report. This whole thing is a sham. This stunted, strangled investigation was designed to provide cover, not to provide the truth.

Not even a full week for an FBI investigation. A single copy of the report given to the Senate. Less than an hour to review. This is a complete sham. @SenateMajLdr McConnell said he’d plow Brett Kavanaugh through, and that’s exactly what the GOP is doing – no matter the cost.

This so-called “investigation” is a complete sham.

Why not do a real investigation? Why limit Senate access to the report? Why limit public access to it?
There can only be one of two answers: the Republican majority doesn’t care about allegations of sexual assault, or they’re worried of what a true investigation would uncover.

And they weren’t the only ones saying the investigation was insufficient:
The FBI report on Judge Kavanaugh is entirely incomplete and insufficient. There are dozens of witnesses who have not been interviewed. This is for a lifetime appointment. The American people deserve to have all the facts.

If I had received a report like this when I was serving as a US Attorney, I would have sent it back for more work. Clearly, there were considerable constraints on the @FBI , and those constraints have hampered the sincere and thorough investigation we need. pic.twitter.com/y39pfM53UU
