Neil Gorsuch Was ‘Disheartened’ by Trump’s Tweets on the Judiciary

President Trump‘s Supreme Court nominee has privately expressed his dismay with some of the president’s recent tweets about the judiciary.
In response to the judge who temporarily blocked the travel ban, Trump tweeted out the following:
The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017
What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017
Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision

The judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interests at heart. Bad people are very happy!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 5, 2017
Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!

Naturally, a lot of people wanted to hear Gorsuch’s opinion on all this, and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal told reporters today that the SCOTUS nominee did, in fact, weigh in:
He said very specifically that they were demoralizing and disheartening and he characterized them very specifically that way. I said they were more than disheartening and I said to him that he has an obligation to make his views clear to the American people, so they understand how abhorrent or unacceptable President Trump’s attacks on the judiciary are.
A CNN report says a spokesman for Gorsuch has confirmed that he did express his concern about Trump’s “so-called judge’ tweet.
