Nothing to See Here Folks, Just Some Green Water in the Olympic Pool

We here at Mediaite had a hunch that the water in Rio was going to be an issue during the Olympics. What we didn’t realize was that the problems would extend beyond the natural waters of Guanabara Bay and into the Diving pool.

On Tuesday, the water at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center turned green. Yes, green.

Here…See for yourself:

“I’ve never dived in anything like it,” Tonia Couch of Britain told The New York Times

The Times posited that the green water was caused either by algae or a chemical reaction between chlorine and a metal in the water.

Officials issued a statement insisting that the water was safe — which, based on other such assurances, is just so totally comforting…
