Obama Bemoans How Democratic Voters ‘Aren’t Even Thinking’ About Midterms
President Obama wants to get out the vote for Democrats next month, but in a radio interview this morning with Steve Harvey, the president admitted there are a lot of Democratic voters who “aren’t even thinking about these elections coming up.”
For months now, Democrats have faced a serious enthusiasm gap, and that may translate into Republicans taking both chambers of Congress. But Obama warned that complaining about Washington isn’t enough, you actually have to do something.
He told Harvey, “Folks like to complain, talk about Washington — if only 45, 40 percent of the people are voting, it’s not surprising Congress isn’t responsive.”
Obama practically pled with the radio audience to get out the vote because “this is really, really important… [and] this is the last election I’m involved in that really makes a difference.” He admitted that a failure by reliably Democratic voting blocs to get out to the polls cost them dearly in 2010.
