Obama: ‘People Are Continually Surprised When I Do What I Said I Was Going To Do’
President Obama held a news conference earlier today following this weekend’s G-20 Summit in Toronto and had a few choice words for Republicans who have been opposing his every move in the last 18 months. In a longish response to a reporter who asked how Obama could build confidence that the US would meet its deficit reduction goals the president launched this shot across the Republican mid-term bow.
For some reason people keep being surprised when I do what I said I was going to do. So, I say I’m going to reform our HCR, and people say well gosh that’s not smart politics maybe we should hold off. Or I say we’re going to move forward on DADT and somehow people say well why are you doing that, I’m not sure that’s good politics. I’m doing it because I said I was going to do it, and I think it’s the right thing to do. And people should learn that lesson about me, because next year when I start presenting some very difficult choices to the country I hope some of these folks who are hollering about deficit and debt step up cause I’m calling their bluff.
And scene. I think what you have here is an early preview of the 2012 summer feature known as Obama’s reelection campaign. Watch below. The good stuff starts at about the three minute mark.
