Ohio State Government Websites Hacked to Promote ISIS Propaganda
The websites of Ohio Governor John Kasich and several state government agencies were shut down on Sunday after they were hacked and littered with pro-ISIS messages.
“You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing in Muslim countries,” the message read. “I love Islamic State.”

NBC reports that beyond Kasich’s website, the message also appeared on the sites for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, and various agencies overseeing the state workforce, casinos, and the healthcare system. Tom Hoyt, chief communications officer for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, says around 10 websites were affected by the hack, and that two servers have been shut down for investigation.
Bloomberg picked up a statement from Kasich spokeswoman Emmalee Kalmbach, saying “as soon as we were notified of the situation, we immediately began to correct it, and will continue to monitor until fully resolved.”
