Pot To Kettle: Beck Accuses Copenhagen Of ‘Fear Mongering’

video
» 15 comments

Picture 1Ahead of premiering his new show Stossel on FBN last night, John Stossel stopped by Glenn Beck to talk Climategate and the summit in Copenhagen where “they are going to fix the planet.” Strangely, Beck didn’t have much to say about President Obama’s Nobel Prize speech last night beyond the fact that “if he were consistent he would just give all that prize money to the government, pay it all to the IRS because AmeriCorp is such a good charity.” (Perhaps Obama should consider investing it in gold!) Mainly I imagine because when there is nothing bad to say, Beck opts to say nothing much.

In honor of Stossel’s new show, or Climategate, or maybe the polar bears, Stossel brought along his own green phone as a companion piece to Beck’s red phone White House phone. The green phone is apparently for Al Gore. Combined they are the Santa hotline! Anyway, after watching the same climate change video that was shown to attendees in Cophenhagen, Beck pondered whether the commercial is in fact, fear mongering! Eeegads, imagine that. Are there also chalkboards in Cophenhagen? Video below.

    Prime example of what’s dangerous about political discourse when completely false propaganda is gobbled up like gospel. Sad to see that there’s a complete lack of respect for the scientific truth among both Stossel (who defends price gouging?!) and Beck (just a generally unstable human being).

    @m

    “Sad to see that there’s a complete lack of respect for the scientific truth…”

    Because using falsified data is truth now? Glad to see progressives are at least becoming transparent on what they consider the “truth”.

    Progressive Code Thesaurus

    Truth = whatever Progressives believe.
    Fear Mongering = whatever goes against Progressive beliefs.

  • Snipzor

    Oh how sweet, germ is a scientific illiterate. I should express shock about it, but I won’t because it’s a waste of time and it would be fatuous.

  • germ

    Oh how awesome! A typical progressive – can only attack others by calling names. How unoriginal!

  • Snipzor

    Germ, if you are going to start off a comment with sarcasm, be sure to actually hold some sort of consistency by ending your comment with it.

    But yes, the whole ClimateGate “controversy” is simply a showcase of the American right-wing’s consistent scientific illiteracy. I take nothing back… well maybe I would take back not referring to you directly. It is a terrible habit to get into.

    What? No post on Olbermann calling out ABC’s David Wright for selectively editing the John Stewart “Climategate” clip, but then selectively edits the clip himself?

    Wow, Mediaite, you aren’t worried about credibility are you?

    I’ve recently begun watching Glenn Beck and I can understand why the White House is in such a panic. Beck is informed and he is effective.

    As for fear-mongering on the climate issue, that is the sole weapon used by the left to justify a massive global power grab. The facts are sufficient to warrant further research — but they are not a reason to abandon our constitutional republican form of government and replace it with a totalitarian state.

  • Ted

    Okay, now that explains why you don’t understand much. He is uninformed but is effective, just not in the way you think. The Administration loves Glenn Beck; he is the face of the whacked out teabagging right. He has proposed a third party and I say, you go girl!

    Recently, someone suggested that since Glynnis has her “Moment of Glenn,” where she uses her best “copy/paste” skills to repeat the most recent blue blog attack on something Beck kinda-said-but-not-really-so-we’ll-alter-or-take-it-out-of-context-it-so-it-look-worse… we should have our own “Moment of…” to highlight all those other people Glynnis (and Mediaite) don’t want to talk about. I encourage everyone to use Glynnis daily hate-rants to post something more valuable.

    With that in mind… here’s today’s “Moment of Keith.”

    On Wednesday, December 9th, Keith used his “Worst Person’s” segment to criticize ABC’s David Wright for (allegedly) “taking video from ‘The Daily Show’ out of context” in regards to the Climategate scandal. Using clip from “TDS” presented as “the fuller clip,” Olbermann attempted to show “the truth.”

    The only problem… in the process of trying to show how Mr. Wright “used an edited clip,” Olbermann HIMSELF used an “edited clip.” In other words, while attacking Mr. Wright, Olbermann did the same thing he was complaining about.

    (PS: I sent this in as a tip… but you know how KO stories seem to get caught in the “junk” filter around these parts.)

    Don’t jump ahead of me, son!

    I sent it in as a tip yesterday. Funny how those kind of stories never make it around here. I guess that’s one of the benefits of having a show nobody watches.

  • germ

    Im not Blue,

    Did you see my “Moment of Rachel: Lump ‘em or Lose ‘em” on Wednesday?

    I knew someone came up with the idea before me… but I wasn’t sure who. Which thread was it in?

  • TfT

    Jon Stewart took on climategate, Algore and the internet too. That one didn’t make it to this site either. Funny that…..Beck and Palin get all the attention here. I guess even mediaite understands that Keith and Rachel are nobodies, and we know what they think of climategate (ignore it for the most part like the rest of the mainstream (fringe) media).

    Scientific fact used to be established through repeatable and provable tests. When did rash suppositions “supported” by unprovable computer models using selected, unsupported, and even falsified “data” become scientific fact?? There is NO point arguing with any of these global warming “scientists”, or members of the vast industry that has grown up around this hoax. Their paychecks depend upon it’s existence. Without the climate change scare, these people would have to find jobs where employers actually sign their paychecks of their own free will, not by government force. They have no intention of doing so, and will defend their phony “science” at our expense to their last breath.

    It would be interesting to have an article about the pain of living with a spouse who has had fear and paranoia and immaturity fanned by people like Beck. My father-in-law was like that and he was painful to be around in many respects. He was in his 90s and had never really grown up, only grown older and more paranoid. When a grown man is prone to frequent outbursts it is not enjoyable for the family. You tend to lose respect for the person which leads to more outburtss.
