Rand Paul on LGBT Workplace Discrimination: Just Keep Your Private Life Private
Rand Paul addressed the issue of LGBT workplace discrimination today and started out by saying people should just keep their private life private.
“The things you do in your house,” he said at Drake University, “if you could just leave those in your house, they wouldn’t have to be part of the workplace, to tell you the truth.”
He argued that the problem with setting up government protections for LGBT Americans in the workplace would mean “a whole industry for people who want to sue,” and so any gay person who gets fired can claim discrimination.
Paul did say that society is evolving and there are “plenty of places” these days that would gladly hire LGBT workers.
