Salon Writer Fires Back at O’Reilly for Calling Site as ‘Ugly’ and Hateful as Stormfront
There are certain websites that drive Bill O’Reilly crazy, Media Matters and Salon among them. He called out both sites last night for how they covered his commentary on illegal immigration and the death of Kate Steinle.
There was one Salon piece in particular, written by Scott Eric Kaufman, titled “Bill O’Reilly sends the vile Jesse Watters to grandstand in San Francisco over Kate Steinle’s murder.” Last week, Jesse Watters confronted city officials over Steinle’s death because, as O’Reilly argued, they have blood on their hands.
Last night, O’Reilly was so incensed by Salon’s piece that he compared it to Stormfront, “another hate website,” and said Salon is “just as ugly.”
Well, Kaufman fired back at O’Reilly today, completely dismissing that comparison and saying O’Reilly never actually addressed the substance of the article:
He didn’t have to — because the thing about being wildly opportunistic on national television is that people can tune in nightly and judge a person’s actions for themselves. I don’t have to write about what O’Reilly says for people to form the correct impression about his positions, I simply do this as a service for those who can’t physically stand to listen to a self-important palaverist bloviate for 42 minutes daily.
