Sarah Palin Joins Call For ‘Divine Intervention’ And ‘Miracle’ In The Gulf

President Barack Obama drew a lot of flak for the lack of specifics in his Oval Office address to the nation on Tuesday night. His conclusion, which involved a long anecdote about “The Blessing of the Fleet” and his prayer for “that a hand may guide us through the storm towards a brighter day” failed to impress a whole lot of people who were looking for specifics regarding how and when the spill would be stopped. Nevertheless, lawmakers in the Gulf have themselves apparently turned to prayer today as a way to solve the disaster. From CNN:

State senators designated Sunday as a day for citizens to ask for God’s help dealing with the oil disaster.

“Thus far efforts made by mortals to try to solve the crisis have been to no avail,” state Sen. Robert Adley said in a statement released after last week’s unanimous vote for the day of prayer. “It is clearly time for a miracle for us.”

The resolution names Sunday as a statewide day of prayer in Louisiana and calls on people of all religions throughout the Gulf Coast “to pray for an end to this environmental emergency, sparing us all from the destruction of both culture and livelihood.”

Sarah Palin alerted her followers to the plan earlier this morning.

I guess the millions of christian prayers just ain’t doing huh? Their god is not listening is s/he/it? They should ask the Muslims if they can ask their god, or the Hindus can asks their gods, uhm.

I guess prayer wouldn’t be any less effective than anything else they’ve been doing so far.

  • http://PoliticalGlutton.com PoliticalGlutton

Why wait over 50 days for this! How irresponsible of Palin to delay the Day of Prayer for so doggone long! God is the most powerful force we know and Palin flew around giving speeches instead of calling on Him to act!?! This makes a day on the Yacht or at a golf course look so small doesn’t it? Now that you’ve FINALLY gotten around to it Sarah, Pray Baby Pray!

Didn’t anyone ever tell her that you never go full retard?!?

  • me1ranger

You atheist libs are truly the scum of the earth..and Palins youngest son is disabled..what kind of piece of shit would call her retarded? Oh, the dipshit with the retarded screen name above..way to impress, loser.

Palin’s plan is a faith based equivalent of telling us to stick our heads between our legs and kiss our asses goodbye. This bitch proves stupid comes in layers each successively thicker than the layer before. It’s a Republican thing.

  • writer

    “This bitch…”

Gee, and I thought the left was the caring and sensitive side, and against misogyny. And wasn’t it Palin who was saying long ago that we should have gotten cleanup help from other countries, like we’re just now doing?

  • TruckBoatTruck

me1ranger, you hypocrite (I will get to your hypocrisy here in just a second), first off, I’m a sensible libertarian, learn to keep your labels straight. Secondly, the world has discussed it and has decided that “retard” isn’t a bad word.

    As such, Palin is retard.

Again, in case you didn’t catch that… Sarah Palin is a retard.

And I must note that your indignation shown here at me using the word didn’t stop you from calling me “retarded”. Are you truly so retarded that you don’t recognize the hypocrisy? Don’t answer that, I don’t care. Us normy’s (normal folks who aren’t retarded) care none for the opinions of retards… but we do love to point and laugh at you.

So please feel free to reemerge from your bunker/basement (don’t forget to wipe away the Cheeto crumbs!!) to bless us with more Tea Bagger-induced idiocy.

PS, Do you think Jesus would have handled this situation as you have? Or might he have taken the higher road and not thrown a childish temper tantrum like you are throwing here? (Again, your retarded answer isn’t needed…. but I’m sure it’ll be funny as hell, so go ahead an fire back!! I can’t wait!!!!!1!!!1!)

  • writer

Exactly what is Palin’s hypocrisy? That she wanted drilling in ANWR, where a leak could have been easily stopped, as opposed to left wing enviornmentalists insisting that drilling be done far off shore, where leaks are almost impossible to stop? Palin was ahead of the curve in calling for help from other countries. If she wants to toss prayer into the mix, it may not help, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. What’s funny is that a woman who is called ‘retarded’ and ‘insignificant’ can keep the far left’s panties in such a bunch. Now that’s funny!

  • jk

Sarah Palin is a crime against humanity and dumber than a horse’s rear-end.

But I guess you right wingnuts could just solve everything with prayer? Why not just try some magic dust?

  • TruckBoatTruck

writer (worst screen name ever?), learn to read. I was talking about your alter-ego “me1ranger” calling me retarded in a post claiming we shouldn’t use that word.

And fyi, leaks on land aren’t “easily stopped”. Sure it is easier than stopping a leak a mile under the ocean surface — and it is easier than making sense of a comment from a retarded Tea Bagger — but land-based leaks have been pains-in-the-ass since the 1st oil well was drilled. Further, Palin made her pitch for help from others AFTER the current administration had already secured help from those same entities. So she misrepresented the timeline of events and then used that misrepresentation as a source for her continued piling-on of the President.

So since Sarah Palin is dishonest AND a retard (of monumental proportions)… what does that make her ankle-biting, knuckle-dragging, slobber-drooling followers?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

me1ranger says “I would offer to set up a meeting between you two” Wow! Religious deraingment at its worst. Do…….you……..also……….talk…..to…..her….personally? Scary!

  • writer

The truth hurts, huh, Cindy? Who was that stopped the ANWR drilling? ANWR is on land. Much easier to stop a spill. The left is responsible for deep water drilling. A good example of left wing hypocrisy is the late Ted Kennedy. He wanted alternative forms of energy, but complained when he thought windmills were going to be put up within site of his beach house. As for whether prayer would help or not, don’t know. But I don’t think mocking religion helps, either.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

Woo hoo TruckBoatTruck!! me1ranger” calling me retarded in a post claiming we shouldn’t use that word. They aren’t used to such higher level critical thinking as that.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Susan-Gessford/657775682 Susan Gessford

Dear ‘writer’ asks, “exactly what is Palin’s hypocrisy?” Where to begin….in the first place, the location of this oil spill cannot be blamed on “left wing environmentalists,” much as you would love to. These wells have been in the works for a decade, ever since the the technology to find the oil, and drill through the salt layer, became available.
And gosh, Exxon did a fine job stopping the Valdez leak, huh? People there are still waiting for their reimbursements. No oil rig explosion is easy to stop. None. If Republicans had not let the safety mandates be excluded from BP’s plans, an accident like this would not have become the catastrophe it has, but of course, you blame Republican rulebreakers on the left, I’m sure. Why in the world would you allow drilling in ANWR, one of the most pristine places left on Earth?
The answer is not, as opportunist Palin decrees, more wells, but more conservation and more alternatives. She pretends to be worried about the lives of her children and grandchildren, yet she supports this generation using as much oil as we can find, as fast as we find it. She is neither a good steward of our natural resources, nor a very convincing Christian.
the God I pray to expects us to love our neighbors as ourselves, not kill anyone (no matter what country they are from!) and to use what HE has given us wisely. Why do you call libs atheists? You think God is pleased with Palin’s everlasting name calling, lies, and calls to arms? I don’t.

  • writer

Truck Boat (BTW, you use that and make fun of my screen name?) it’s a fact, and not just from Palin or Fox News, that other countries offered to help and we turned them down due to ‘regulations’ prohibiting foreign boats in our waters. The Netherlands and Norway both said so early on. You’re the one changing the timeline to cover up for Obama’s ineptitude. And if Palin is such a retard and she can upset you that badly (ankle biting, knuckle dragging, slobber drooling? LOL) then what does that make you? Mentally well balanced, I suppose.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

Earth to me1ranger. I’ll say this real slow. Have…..you…..learned……about……alternative…..energy? if we can send a human to the moon in a decade we can find alternative energy. It is up to us. We have to demand it and embrace it ourselves.

@Susan. I’m straight but I think I’m in love. That was AWESOME girl!!!!

  • writer

Susan, I didn’t call anyone an atheist. Just said that mocking Palin when she calls for prayer doesn’t really help anything. As for Palin wanting more oil, doesn’t the left even say that we need to end our dependence on foreign sources? I guess if you think oil is so evil, then you plan on not using your car any more until we find an alternative? I know that the left has a foaming at the mouth hatred for Palin and would call her an idiot if she said the sky was blue. But I have to say that with all the posts from the left here, it is amusing that the left considers the right to be the nasty, name calling side.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

“regulations’ prohibiting foreign boats in our waters.” Damn those rules that keep foreigners out. I wonder which party usually makes those kinds of rules? Let’s ask Arizona.

Wait, wait, I’m sorry. You are retarded. I apologize.

And fyi, here is some help with the timeline:
June 8th article in The Houston Chronicle announcing our acceptance of help from the Dutch:
    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/steffy/7043272.html

And resident retard Sarah Palin appeared on O’Reilly a full week later (that would be June 15th for the retards) and lied saying we hadn’t accepted their help.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

@writer We can all be nasty name callers. We are only human. I believe what you may be referring to is that, historically, it has been largely (but not limited to) the Republican party who has gotten the dirtiest against those who disagree. Please watch Faux (i’m sure you do) and tally how many times the right wing pundits insult then watch Madow or The Young Turks and tally how often they participate in name calling. You may be surprised at the result.

  • writer

Cindy, you’re evidently forgetting that Obama is in charge now, and that it was up to him to bypass those rules. The complaints were that it took him so long to do it. And despite your knee jerk reaction that it’s only rabid right wingers making those complaints, have you been watching MSNBC lately? The left and the right are saying Obama dropped the ball. Your automatic hatred of Palin doesn’t change it. As for these alternative sources of energy, that’s fine to start looking for them. The sooner the better. But how about for tomorrow? Or next month? Are you going to put a sail on your car to get to work, or are you going to keep filling up till a better alternative is found?

  • writer

And Cindy, as for name calling, ever watched Olbermann or Schultz? You gotta be kidding.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

“automatic hatred of Palin” That is an assumption on your part and I don’t hate her. I feel sorry for her. I think she really believes what she says. No. I do not watch Olbermann or Schultz. I occasionally watch TYT or Maddow but it’s mostly broadcast news and I have a healthy skeptism about what they say as well. I blame BP first and foremost and the deregulations that allowed this to happen. My opinion is that Obama needed to get some balls and take BP to task for their incompetence.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cindy-Johnson/100000054136922 Cindy Johnson

@writer. Please, please, please study the history of our country. Don’t believe what people tell you about our founders. Read their words for yourself and as a history teacher I can tell you that your history textbook was greatly watered down to make the conservatives happy. History doesn’t look very kindly on conservative behavior.

  • writer

Truck, I thought maybe you were smart enough to know who I meant even if I didn’t use the full name. That was giving you too much credit. And wow, the oil leak started the third week of April and by June we were asking for help. Way to get right on top of it. Despite your demented hatred of Palin, your buddies on the far left such as Olbermann, Maddow, Michael Moore and others have been criticizing Obama’s handling of the oil spill. But of course you won’t criticize them. And it’s still funny that Palin gets you so worked up and foaming at the mouth. BWAAHHHAAAAHAAAAAAA!!!

  • writer

Cindy, not really seeing what the founding fathers have to do with the oil spill. And aren’t there some noted left wingers that history doesn’t look too kindly on? Pol Pot, Stalin, Chairman Mao, etc.

  • TruckBoatTruck

Retard, er, writer, Google this: “Moving the goal posts”.

Having a discussion with a retarded Tea Bagger is like having a discussion with road kill. Perfect logic backed by facts does nothing to sway the thoughts of a mental midget.

Me: Palin attacked Obama for not accepting help from the Dutch — despite the fact that he accepted their help a full week before she attacked him.

Retard (that would be you, writer): “You’re the one changing the timeline to cover up for Obama’s ineptitude.”

Me: Provides actual proof showing definitively that the Obama administration had accepted help from the Dutch a full week before Palin’s appearance on O’Reilly.

Retard: “I just peed down my leg!!!!!1!!1!”

Me: Well that is gross. Go tell your mommy.

And for the record (as I have yet to comment on Obama’s handling of the spill), I’m not thrilled with it. They should have been more proactive in reaching out. But for the leader of the political opposition (and her retarded followers) to suggest he hadn’t done something a full week after he had done it… well that is something a retard would do.

Obama has yet to put on a wet-suit and swim down to the source of the leak on the seabed floor and punch it into submission… I can’t wait to see Palin and her minions attack him for not daring to take this much-needed step.

  • writer

Truck Stop Shitter, Palin was referring to the fact that we should have been asking for help as soon as the spill started in April, not in June, you f***in’ moron. But even though your kool aid drinking left wing loon buddies are criticizing Obama, you focus only on Palin. BWAAAHHAAAHAAAA. She gets your goat, and that’s entertainment.

  • TruckBoatTruck

    Nice try.

But you are a retard, so I didn’t expect you to be able to accurately regurgitate the words of your Champion Retard. Here, let me help:

Sarah Palin, on Bill O’Reilly’s show, June 15th: “They can’t even get a phone call back… that is what the Norwegians are telling us and the Dutch are telling us”

Her comments obviously show she is speaking in present tense — that, as of June 15th, that these countries had still yet to “get a phone call back” from the current administration.

Yet the facts are that at least a week prior — June 8th — The Houston Chronicle showed that, not only had the Dutch gotten a call back… but that “ships are being outfitted this week with four pairs of the skimming booms airlifted from the Netherlands and should be deployed within days. Each pair can process 5 million gallons of water a day, removing 20,000 tons of oil and sludge.”

My God you are a retard. But please keep posting… I love the giggles your idiocy gives me.

And BTW, I absolutely love Sarah Palin and I truly hope she runs for President. As there is nothing more entertaining than watching her flight-of-the-bumblebees-speech-pattern (TM) as her brain searches for words to string together during live interviews. I could watch that spectacle all day long.

  • writer

Truck, did you just learn that word? If Palin didn’t know that the Dutch had been contacted a week before she made her comment, then she was wrong in that regard. What she wasn’t wrong on is that the spill happened in April and it was June before we got around to asking for help. The help was initially turned down. People on the left are now saying the same thing, and criticizing Obama for his slow reaction. Are they wrong too? Palin gets scorn for saying the same things many on the far left are now saying. For someone you insist is an insignificant joke, she sure gets your knickers in a twist. Getting that upset over someone so inconsequential is sort of demented, isn’t it? Quite amusing.

  • youngwayne22

Holy poo, a Tea Bagging Palin supporter (writer-the-retarded) admitting Palin was wrong. You better be careful with that type of talk, for your fellow Tea Baggers don’t take kindly to people pointing out truth in your circles.

And please forgive me, writer-the-retarded, as there were admittedly a ton of words in that comment… more than we should expect the typical Tea Bagger to be able to work through… so I will repeat my love for Sarah Palin here:

Despite all evidence to the contrary, I absolutely love Sarah Palin and I truly hope she runs for President. As there is nothing more entertaining than watching her flight-of-the-bumblebees-speech-pattern (TM) as her brain searches for words to string together during live interviews. Truck Stop Crapper, I can see why ‘retarded’ is your favorite word. It must have been thrown your way quite often. Obama waited six weeks before asking for help. So on the seventh week, because Palin was unaware that he’d finally asked, you believe that completely nullifies any criticism of Obama and makes Palin completely wrong. Palin was only ‘wrong’ in not knowing he’d asked. And after a six week wait, it’s understandable. You claim you’re not bothered or obsessed by Palin. But your fellow lefties such as Olbermann and Maddow have been throwing the same criticism at Obama. Why no outrage towards them?

The Dutch offered to fly their skimmer arm systems to the Gulf 3 days after the oil spill started. The offer was apparently turned down because EPA regulations do not allow water with oil to be pumped back into the ocean. If all the oily water was retained in the tanker, the capacity of the system would be greatly diminished because most of what is pumped into the tanker is sea water.
As of June 8th, BP reported that they have collected 64,650 barrels of oil in the Gulf. That is only a fraction of the amount of oil spilled from the well. That is less than one day’s rated capacity of the Dutch oil skimmers.
The Obama Administration turned down offers to help clean up the spill from The Netherlands and the British Government just days after the explosion. They didn’t accept the British help because they didn’t have the proper paperwork. The administration still has not given the OK to allow emergency workers to use a Maine company’s oil boom even though they were made aware of the warehouse full of containment boom back on May 21.

  • writer

    Houston Chronicle:

Three days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, the Dutch government offered to help.

It was willing to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms, and it proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands.

The response from the Obama administration and BP, which are coordinating the cleanup: “The embassy got a nice letter from the administration that said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’” said Geert Visser, consul general for the Netherlands in Houston.

Now, almost seven weeks later, as the oil spewing from the battered well spreads across the Gulf and soils pristine beaches and coastline, BP and our government have reconsidered.

U.S. ships are being outfitted this week with four pairs of the skimming booms airlifted from the Netherlands and should be deployed within days. Each pair can process 5 million gallons of water a day, removing 20,000 tons of oil and sludge.

Well, I am glad Obama’s lack of experience at anything but community organizing has not hurt anything yet. Aren’t y’all?

  • ladyruth54

Geez can any of you lowlifes read? It says that LOUISIANA STATE LEGISLATORS called for the day of prayer. Sarah Palin just passed the info on to her followers.

Thank you ladyruth, you beat me to it, but I couldnt figure out why that significant point was being missed.

As a nurse, I feel a bit concerned about the hysterical, irrational negative feelings about Governor Palin. those of you who are particularly unhinged need to have your BP checked. Do you reolize that you can stroke out during a rant ? I’m not joking about this………… if you cannot get better control over your emotions in this type of setting, I truly hope you never have anything really important to handle in life.

Such baseless, unfounded (your personal predjudices don’t count, they just get in the way since they are not founded on anything but your opinion. While most folks certainly love their own opinons, not surprisingly,.. the universe doesn’t hold them in much regard). Please hold back just a bit, lay down with a cool cloth on your forehead…………….if all that fails, please go see your family Doc, and schedule a high colonic. Perhaps your minds will clear a bit.

“As a nurse, I feel a bit concerned about the hysterical, irrational negative feelings about Governor Palin. those of you who are particularly unhinged need to have your BP checked.”

Thank you for your concern, nurse.

But I don’t need to go to the doctor. I just go to church and pray to the baby Jesus.

That is always the best solution.

    Sarah Palin taught me that.
