Trump Lawyer Says POTUS Has Sent Private Messages of ‘Appreciation’ to Mueller

John Dowd, chief counsel for President Trump, is claiming in a new interview that the President has been sending messages of “appreciation” to Robert Mueller.
Trump has publicly denounced the “witch hunt” and laid out what he feels would be a “red line” the special counsel shouldn’t cross.
But lawyer John Dowd tells USA Today that the President has sent a few appreciative messages to Mueller:
Trump’s legal team has been in contact with Mueller’s office, and Dowd says he has passed along the president’s messages expressing “appreciation and greetings” to the special counsel.
“The president has sent messages back and forth,” Dowd said, declining to elaborate further… “We get along well with Bob Mueller; our communications have been constructive,” the attorney said. “But it is important that our communications remain confidential. It’s important that there not be any breakdown in that trust.”
Dowd did also dismiss the idea Trump wants Mueller fired, calling that a “manifestation of the media.”
