#TrumpSoPoor: Twitter Mercilessly Taunts Trump Over Cash-Strapped Campaign
Twitter trolls are turning out in force today to point out how Donald Trump‘s campaign coffers have seen better days despite how often he brags about his wealth.
Federal Election Commission filings from May reveal that the mogul’s fundraising money-machine pales in comparison to Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Whereas Trump spent campaign funds on his businesses and left his political team with only $1.3 million on hand, Sanders came out of May with $9.2 million at his disposal, while Clinton has $42.5 million.
Trump frequently brags about how he’s self-funding his campaign (even though that’s not entirely true), and he said on Today that he will sustain his general election campaign with his own money if he must. Even so, Trump is still pushing out fundraising emails, and critics are flocking Twitter with unimpressed reactions.
