UNC Campus Newspaper Denounces Democrats For Calling America ‘Great’

The University of North Carolina’s student newspaper The Daily Tar Heel criticized the Democratic Party for selling merchandise saying that America is “already great.”

In response to Donald Trump‘s iconic “Make America Great Again” hat, the DNC came out with its own rejoinder, a hat that reads, “America is Already Great.”

All in harmless fun, right? Well the paper disagreed, saying in the “Quick Hits” section of its op-ed page Thursday that the hat was “problematic.”

“This is problematic because it implies that over two centuries of systemic racism and imperialism are ‘great,’” the Tar Heel argues. “Come on Dems, you’re supposedly liberal.”

In another “Quick Hit,” the paper calls Republican Governor Pat McCrory “Gov. F*ckboy” for signing a bill limiting sanctuary cities: “It is obviously racist and xenophobic — also it is just embarrassing. Honestly, f*ck every person who supported it.”
