FBI Investigating Hillary Clinton’s Private Email Server
According to reporting from The Washington Post, the FBI has begun looking into the security of the private server used by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The Post reports that the FBI has questioned a Denver-based company that helped manage the server, and has contacted Clinton lawyer David Kendall asking about a private thumb drive that contains copies of Clinton’s emails.
The investigation comes weeks after The New York Times reported that government investigators requested that the Department of Justice open an investigation into whether Clinton’s emails contained classified information. That Times story became a political flash-point after conservatives and liberals alike criticized the paper for watering down the story without an official correction.
The Clinton campaign responded to the newest inquiry by reiterating that the Democratic presidential candidate “did not send nor receive any emails that were marked classified at the time. We want to ensure that appropriate procedures are followed as these emails are reviewed while not unduly delaying the release of her emails. We want that to happen as quickly and as transparently as possible.”
