Your Moment Of Glenn: Only Fiction Writers Know The Truth

A few weeks back the New York Times did a feature on how Glenn Beck was the best thing to happen to book publishing since Oprah Winfrey (and maybe the only good thing considering today’s announcement), particularly when it comes to espionage thrillers.

Today viewers got a taste of just how strongly these thrillers affect Beck’s world view. Says Beck:

“I learned a long time ago that the only people that will really tell you the truth on what could happen, and the only people that really know are…the fiction authors. They have to know what’s really going on, so then they can weave in a story that’s believable. They will also tell you the truth, they have nothing to gain.”

Emphasis mine, mostly because this description could also double as a one-line description of Beck’s show. Also, while I actually sincerely appreciate Beck’s support of the publishing industry, if Beck does in fact believe he can get a more truthful world view from bestselling fiction authors (which is kind of the equivalent of taking religion lessons from the Da Vinci Code) it would explain a great deal about his show.

Beck spent the hour sharing political views with author Vince Flynn. Video below, Flynn’s books available here.

Ah yes… another needlessly negative “article” from Glynnis. Apparently, she still hasn’t mastered the difference between opinion and fact, and when something should be classified as a “column” not a “report.” This is nothing new… but as she refuses to address this, I feel it must once again be pointed out.

HEY GLYNNIS…ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?! WE WANT TO KNOW WHY YOUR ARTICLES ATTACK BECK, BUT YOU DON’T CLASSIFY THEM AS AN “OPINION.” DO YOU THINK THIS IS “STRAIGHT REPORTING” OR “JOURNALISM?”

Anyway… Beck’s point about fiction writers using reality as a basis for their stories is hardly untrue or as “wacky” as Glynnis would have you believe. Apparently she’s forgotten classics like “1984″ and “Animal Farm”… works of fiction to be sure, but their real-life implications, and their use in the actual political arena cannot be denied. But again, it’s not the logic of what Beck says, it’s the fact that you can take a quick quote out of context, ignore rational thought, and then pose it as an attack. Hardly surprising… but always disappointing.

But Hollywood stars that the liberal media regularly rely on for insightful comment — now they really know their stuff because they, like, read a script once where, like, somebody said something about politics. /sarc Vince Flynn is articulate, level-headed and very likeable. No screechy, hate-filled drama as you tend ot hear from libs in the entertainment world. It’s great to have people like Mr. Flynn — who have a public following and therefore a platform to share his reasoned views of which MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of Americans agree — out there sharing his conservative views. His books are best sellers for a reason.

    ImNotBlue –

Beck is a whack job, a raving loon if you will and everyone knows it except you apparently. By the way, your post are getting progressively more pathetic…dumb ass. As per usual you have nothing to say. Stay on you meds for the love of pete…I’m just sayin.

Do you have anything to add other than personal attacks? If this is all you’ve got, I’m sure there’s a better use for your time somewhere else. Perhaps a playground with the rest of the children.

    For you…hmmmmm. nope.
