Keith Olbermann Complained To Current That Car Service Drivers ‘Smelled, Talked To Him’

ko

On the heels of Countdown host Keith Olbermann‘s firing from Current TV, the network and sources close to it have been quick to buttress their case for the dismissal with details of the temperamental star’s antics. One such source tells Mediaite, among other things, that Olbermann went through 8 different car services (he doesn’t drive), and complained to the network that some of the drivers “smelled,” and “talked to him,” the latter detail echoing a leak that once dogged then-Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain.

Mediaite’s Tommy Christopher To WSJ Radio On Keith Olbermann: ‘He’s Like Fat Elvis Now’

olbermann audio

Our own Tommy Christopher has been reporting since yesterday afternoon on the story of Keith Olbermann‘s departure from Current TV, his home after his goodbye from MSNBC. He spoke to Michael Castner on The Wall Street Journal‘s “Daily Wrap” yesterday about Olbermann’s disputes with management, his infractions, and his future elsewhere, which Christopher argued might be more limited than it was in the past.

No Mention Of Keith Olbermann As Eliot Spitzer Debuts ‘Viewpoint’

Picture-314-316x238 video

It was a fairly busy Friday at Current TV, as the network broke the news that their 8PM anchor, Keith Olbermann, was out at the network over a series of infractions that amount mostly to lack of respect, and that, in return, Olbermann was taking legal action. It took little time for the network to announce Eliot Spitzer as the new flagship hosts, and his show, Viewpoint, debuted last night. Spitzer dove straight into the issues, with little explanation of the show, and no indication that Olbermann had ever existed.

The Young Turks Was Beating Countdown With Keith Olbermann In The Demo

elbow-300x146

Along with the news that Countdown 2: Electric Boogaloo host Keith Olbermann has been fired from Current TV, almost as suddenly as he was from the last Countdown, comes an interesting bit of news from a source at the network. As of this week, lead-in The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur, which was already feeding coveted younger viewers to Olbermann, began actually beating Countdown in the key 25-54 demographic.

Keith Olbermann Fired For Breach Of Contract; Olbermann Responds To Firing

candle-300x201

It began with some lighting problems in his Countdown digs, and ended, today, with Keith Olbermann‘s  firing by Current TV for what sources close to the situation say is “serial, material breach of contract.” Olbermann, for his part, says the claims against him by Current are “untrue,” and that he plans to sue. He’s currently engaged in a Twitter tirade against Current executives Joel Hyatt and former VP Al Gore.

It’s official. Keith Olbermann is out at Current TV, and Eliot Spitzer is replacing him beginning tonight at 8 p.m. with his new show Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer. According to a statement from the network, the former governor “will offer up his opinion of the day’s news and then invite guests to discuss, analyze and debate.”

Former James O’Keefe ‘Accomplice’ Reveals ‘Barn Incident’ And Harassment Complaint

nadia1-316x291

Last week, we reported that Nadia Naffe, self-described “accomplice” to conservative activist James O’Keefe , had begun publishing a multi-part tell-all series of posts to her blog. Thursday morning, Naffe published the second part, which details her version of the events that led her to file a criminal harassment complaint against O’Keefe in November, and which includes documents related to a sexual harassment settlement between O’Keefe and “CNN Sex Boat Caper” whistleblower Izzy Santa. O’Keefe filed suit against Naffe on Wednesday to obtain an injunction against publication of those documents, and of emails that O’Keefe claims she stole from his computer.

James O’Keefe ‘Accomplice’ Nadia Naffe To Tell All

nadia-316x291

Conservative activist James O’Keefe is leaving a trail of disgruntled former associates in his wake, but the latest of these could deal a fatal blow to the ACORN auteur’s reputation. Nadia Naffe, who filed a criminal harassment complaint against O’Keefe in November (it was dismissed due to jurisdictional issues), has begun publishing a multi-part series of posts to her blog, the first of which is entitled “My Time as an Accomplice to Convicted Criminal James O’keefe.”

Video: Fox News Defends President Over High Gas Prices

billo VIDEO

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has been trying to revive his flagging campaign with the promise of $2.50-a-gallon gasoline, while other Republicans have tried to attack President Obama over rising gas prices. The President has handled these attacks pretty well, but it’s nice to see him getting an assist from the folks over at Fox News, who echoed President Obama’s responses to gas price politics…three years before he gave them. Countdown’s Keith Olbermann has the video, including Bill O’Reilly’s eerily similar remarks to President Obama’s, but in defense of President George W. Bush.

Keith Olbermann Apologizes To SE Cupp And Michelle Malkin, Suspends Worst Persons Again

ko video

On Wednesday night’s Countdown, host Keith Olbermann took on comparisons of his own cruel remarks about some conservative women with Rush Limbaugh‘s sustained attack on Sandra Fluke, which has prompted an unprecedented advertiser exodus from the conservative radio giant. While Olbermann argued that his offenses were vastly different in character (and not misogynist), he did apologize to conservative pundits S.E. Cupp and Michelle Malkin, and announced the (re)suspension of his “Worst Persons” segment.

Video: The 53 Attacks Rush Limbaugh Didn’t Apologize For

rush limbaugh video

With advertisers and radio stations fleeing like deer from a forest fire, conservative radio giant Rush Limbaugh has tried, twice, to squirt out the flames by apologizing for his poor selection of the words “slut” and “prostitute” to describe Georgetown law student and activist Sandra Fluke. Unfortunately, as Ms. Fluke pointed out, Limbaugh’s sustained 3-day assault consisted of 53 separate attacks, and removing those two words doesn’t change that total. The Jed Report‘s Jed Lewison helpfully compiled them all into a single video.

James O’Keefe Sues Current TV, Keith Olbermann For Defamation

jamesokeefe

James O’Keefe, a conservative activist, is filing a law suit against Current TV, Keith Olbermann (who now hosts Countdown on the network) and David Shuster (a guest host). O’Keefe is claiming defamation for false reporting that O’Keefe had been accused of rape, and for false reporting that he is a “convicted felon.”

Alec Baldwin Calls Andrew Breitbart A ‘Festering Boil On The Anus Of Public Discourse’

baldwinbreitbart

Ever since Andrew Breitbart reminded Occupy protesters at CPAC that their movement had a serious sexual harassment and rape problem, Breitbart and many in his company have been repeatedly making the point as a reminder to a public that has mostly forgotten that Occupy exists that they are not, in the aggregate, the most serious group of political dissenters. This has gotten the attention of some of the lower-tier fringe left, with the latest of these being noted political scholar Alec Baldwin, who added this veritable contribution to politics today: “Andrew Breitbart is a festering boil on the anus of public discourse.”

Mormons Posthumously Baptized Simon Wiesenthal’s Parents…And President Obama’s Mother

monson video

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints president Thomas Monson recently earned a runner-up “Worst Persons” award on Keith Olbermann‘s Countdown for having to issue an apology for “continuing (the church’s) policy of posthumous baptism” without the family’s consent, in this case, with the parents of famed Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal.

While Olbermann is technically incorrect (it’s against their “policy,” but it’s a poorly-enforced policy), this story reminds me of another famous posthumous Mormon baptizee: President Obama‘s mother.

Paging Conservative Outrage: Child-Rape Apologist Leads Republican Presidential Field

Rick

It’s amazing that this hasn’t gotten more press, but maybe that will change with a little help from my new allies in the fight against rape apologia, the gang at Big Journalism. If they thought Keith Olbermann‘s apparent denial of sexual assaults at Occupy encampments (since clarified) was revolting, this ought to make their vomit vomit: former Sen. Rick Santorum, national frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination, is not just a rape apologist, but a child rape apologist.

Andrew Breitbart And Crew Attack Keith Olbermann And Markos Moulitsas For Rape Denial

ko VIDEO

Andrew Breitbart and his Big Journalism colleagues have been waging all-out internet war on Countdown host Keith Olbermann over his failure to correct (or clarify) guest Markos Moulitsas‘ comments on sexual assaults at Occupy encampments, and for statements Olbermann has made on Twitter since then that seem to indicate denial that any such assaults occurred. While there is serious, legitimate criticism to be made of Olbermann here, the Breitbart crew undermines that with overreaches and lies.

Keith Olbermann: Susan G. Komen Founder Has ‘Dishonored Her Sister’s Memory’

komen VIDEO

On Tuesday night’s Countdown, fiery host Keith Olbermann delivered one of his trademark Special Commentâ„¢ segments on the roiling controversy surrounding the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity’s decision to de-fund, then maybe re-fund, Planned Parenthood‘s screening services. He compared the incident to McCarthy-era “witch hunts,” and said that Komen founder and CEO Nancy Brinker had “dishonored both her sister’s memory, and this essential cause.”

Keith Olbermann Returns Amid Reports He’s Hanging By A Thread

nuge

After a week off due to a bout with bronchitis, Countdown host Keith Olbermann returned to the air Monday night, to the center of the Current TV universe, and to the black backdrop that seems a fitting stand-in for the star’s reportedly tumultuous relationship with his employer. According to a new report by Newsweek, that relationship may be hanging by a thread, and with it, the future of Current’s plan to become the left’s answer to Fox News.

Bill Press Hosts Current TV’s Florida Primary Coverage On Countdown

BillPress

This week, viewers of Current TV’s Countdown have been treated to syndicated liberal radio powerhouse Bill Press filling the anchor chair for bronchitis-stricken Keith Olbermann. Contrary to this item at Huffington Post, Press will also host Countdown‘s Florida primary coverage Tuesday night, along with guest analyst Eliot Spitzer (Spitzer will then fill in as Countdown host Wednesday night). Olbermann’s absence may be providing viewers with a glimpse of Current’s future.

Keith Olbermann Resurrects Ice-Cold Mitt Romney Encounter With Medical Marijuana Patient

Clayton VIDEO

As it becomes ever more clear that Mitt Romney will likely be the Republican presidential nominee, the former Massachusetts Governor’s opponents will continue to mine the interweb for rich deposits of oppo ore. On Monday night’s Countdown, host Keith Olbermann reintroduced America to Clayton Holton, an 80-lb medical marijuana patient who had an encounter with Romney in 2007 that would make a tauntaun reach for a sweater (translation for non-dorks: it was mighty chilly).

Keith Olbermann, Media Matters Pressure CNN To Fire Dana Loesch Over Urinate-Gate

DL003-316x236

CNN contributor and Editor-in-Chief of Big Journalism Dana Loesch took a lot of flak over the weekend for her declaration of solidarity with the four Marines who videotaped themselves urinating on the corpses of alleged Taliban fighters, in which she said “I’d drop trou and do it too.”

Countdown host Keith Olbermann and liberal watchdog Media Matters, among others, have called for CNN to fire Loesch over the remark, and according to Big Journalism, even Politico is in on the act.

Al Gore Takes A Swipe At MSNBC’s Liberal Cred While Confirming Olbermann Is ‘Fine’ At Current TV

CADM109_1288500e

After several reports on the relationship between the network and anchor Keith Olbermann, Current TV head Al Gore made several statements today confirming that Olbermann is “fine” at the network and attacking MSNBC for being “all over the lot” politically, while Current was “consistent” in its progressivism.

Person Claiming To Be Former Countdown Employee Slams Keith Olbermann In Scathing Gawker Post

keitholbermann_652_article_story_main

On the bright side, Keith Olbermann is probably getting more headlines in the past week than in his entire time at Current TV (and possibly some of his MSNBC time as well). On the downside, most of them haven’t been great headlines. Following The New York Times‘ reports that there were tensions between the anchor and his new home, Gawker has posted a blistering slam from someone purporting to be a former employee. Olbermann immediately accused Gawker of being “pwned by a fake source.”

Olbermann Announces He Will Be ‘Running’ Current’s Election Coverage After NH

nuge

The enigmatic feud between Countdown host Keith Olbermann and his network, Current TV, has ended, not with a bang, but with a Sunday announcement that the fiery liberal provocateur has agreed to anchor the network’s election coverage following Tuesday’s New Hampshire Primary, which isn’t quite the network’s preferred outcome, but close enough. Still unresolved is the reason for this dust-up, which Olbermann has implied had at least something to do with technical difficulties on his news hour.
