Out-Of-Work Actor Trashes David Letterman’s Historic Ed Sullivan Theater
In the ever-clever words of the New York Post, “there must be a better way to get your foot in the door at Late Show with David Letterman.” As the Post writes, a “boozed-up, down-on-his-luck Broadway actor wannabe” kicked in the glass doors of Letterman’s iconic Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway Sunday, climbed inside and trashed the ornate lobby. “The inside looked like it was a drunken bar brawl,” a law-enforcement source told The Post.
Spider-Man Musical Leaves Critics in Precarious Position
Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has taken its share of criticism and ridicule as its suffered from several setbacks and pushed back its opening several times. The play got some good news this week with some high-profile endorsements as the show continues its previews, and word of a new finale. All of these delays have left reporters, who are seeing the show between now and the scheduled March 15 opening, in a strange spot. What can they reveal about the much-anticipated, extremely expensive production? Here, a rundown of how some writers are handling the long wait for opening night, and how delays are making them part of the story:
Panel Nerds: A Champion Acting Ensemble Discuss That Championship Season
A star-studded cast is starring in a revival of Jason Miller’s 1972 play That Championship Season on Broadway this spring. While the play is of a personal nature that the cast and crew hopes will resonate with a modern audience, it’s especially familiar for actor Jason Patric, who is both a star of the show and Miller’s son. Earlier this week, the star-studded ensemble discussed the play at the Times Center.
Glenn Beck Raves About Spider-Man Musical: It’s “Broadway History”
There’s so much darkness in the news right now. So many angry and scary stories with people blaming each other for shootings while other are busy people blaming each other for blaming each other. The whole thing is just depressing. You know what isn’t depressing, though? Hearing Glenn Beck rave about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Heck, this is even more fun than the Sarah Palin Xbox!

The Show Must Go On?: Avenue Q Dedicates Performance to Gary Coleman
Today, beloved sitcom star and unfortunate tabloid punchline Gary Coleman tragically passed away at age 42. While many wonder what the actor’s legacy will be (in this nice article, TV critic Alan Sepinwall hopes that he will be remembered for his amazing talent and not his off-camera struggles), part of him will live on tonight in performances of the hit musical Avenue Q. The show, which features a parodic version of Coleman as a character, has vowed not to change the show following his death. The question now is, how will audiences respond?
