Rick Reilly came to ESPN from Sports Illustrated in a high profile move two years ago.

But Reilly’s connection with the average sports fan is as strong as a dial-up modem (attempt at Reilly prose) – and it was never more clear than in his odd, over-reaching advice for Tiger Woods this week (and even some at ESPN agree publicly).

With just over two minutes to go in last night’s much-hyped Colts-Patriots game, Belichick elected to go for the first down on a 4th and 2 from his own 28 yard line. Tom Brady’s pass to Kevin Faulk was bobbled and caught, but Faulk came up a half-yard short, leading to a Peyton Manning touchdown pass and Colts victory. Yesterday was the loss, and today is the backlash.

ESPN’s Wilbon Apologizes for Slandering Limbaugh; Rush Rubs It In

ESPN’s Michael Wilbon was on CNN this morning to discuss an incident earlier this week where he, like many others in the media, falsely attributed quotes to Rush Limbaugh while reasoning that Limbaugh shouldn’t allowed to purchase a minority stake in the St. Louis Rams. Meanwhile, Limbaugh makes lemonade on the WSJ‘s Opinion page.
