They wondered if maybe the FAA rules should be revised after all there had been no real accidents when people used their their electronic devices while planes were on the ground.

I fly hundreds of thousands of miles each year. I would love to keep my Kindle and my noise reduction earphones on even after the cabin door is closed and prior to attaining 10K feet. I am almost persuaded electronic devices do not interfere with cockpit : ground/tower communications. Almost is not good enough. Similarly, I am almost persuaded that wireless communications throughout the flight do not pose a safety concern. Almost is not good enough. There is a tangential safety concern, however. In any flight, the times most likely for an accident to occur are taxiing, take-off and landing. Every passenger needs to be able to understand and respond to cabin crew instructions during these critical times. Any passenger who does not understand and does not respond, perhaps because of the distraction of electronic devices, endangers all passengers and the crew. Anyone who has flown AirFrance knows it is very aggressive about the enforcement of these rules. And, AirFrance evacuated an entire B777 within three (3) minutes after a runway accident on landing.

Of less importance, and more as to comfort, I do not want to be on an aircraft with half the passengers loudly sharing the mundane details of their sad lives with people they spoke with 30 minutes earlier or will speak to in another 30 minutes. I’m not any more interested in hearing angry business people converse on the aircraft.

What Baldwin did was unacceptable, inexcusable and dangerous. Of course, it was rude and vulgar as well.

Airlines maintain their own no fly lists. Baldwin should be added to all of them.

Think how bad it woud have been had his daughter been with him.

I think the simple solution is for Alec to spend some of his many millions on a Gulfstream V.

Here is my statement to ABC: 

The ‘Airline rules’ that The View referred to are actually the “FAA Rules”. Every operating carrier flight crew has to adhere to the FAA regulations and uphold these rules on the carrier. Flight Attendant’s & the Flight Crew must ensure that there is 100% compliance with all passengers. If not, the crew member is subject to a personal fine, company fine & discipliary actions by the FAA & the company. This includes the behavior or non-compliance such as the person described as “Our friend on The View, Alec Baldwin”. If any of you are a pilot, or flight attendant with flying experience, electronic devices can indeed affect instruments. Generally, pilots fly “visually” in good weather conditions but when flying (especially landing) in IFR (bad weather conditions), the ILS landing systems can be affected by electronic devices or sometimes even lighting strikes. Again, the FAA (not the FCC ) prohibits the use of cell phones & electronic devices along with all the other regulations. Whether a plane crash has been proven to cause a crash is besides the point-It’s the LAW. Passengers must adhere to crewmember instructions because it’s the law! It would be refreshing to see the View simply state that & show respect to the professionals in the aviation industry. Many of us who fly have witnessed the unthinkable.A passenger who is non-compliant wih any of the FAA rules is advised by a crewmember, and it has to be documented & communicated to the Flight deck. If they continue their actions & the situation escalates & intimidating actions are made -such as swearing, yelling & kicking the bathroom door so hard that the flight deck was alarmed by it, then it’s of no surprise the Captain has to made the call to return to the gate & have the customer met by authorites. Again, the airline has to operate the flight within the regulations made by the FAA.Including Inflight Disturbances!!!
 No matter who you are, I can assure you, noone wants to be on the ground more or less with someone this erratic at 40,000′. It’s a grueling & helpless feeling for everyone on board. It’s a good practice to speak of things that you are educated, experienced in or have ample research on. If you are hosting a show, may I suggest that you learn the facts-then express your View. Once you step onto that commercial flight, you are subject to FAA rules outlined on every boarding pass and every airline website. It’s the law, so please refrain from rolling your eyes-because, it’s really unbecoming. Here is my view: Shame on American Airlines for allowing Baldwin to even take another flight. He should have been arrested like any other person who causes that type of disruption & intimidation to a crewmember. If you have ever known someone in the airline industry, they will tell you…It’s a sickening feeling when you get the call from a pilot saying he can’t move the plane because there’s communication interference with the tower. If you’ve ever been on a flight with someone who has been a ‘problem’ on the ground with their actions unnoticed or ignored, you get to sweat it out with every single passenger at 40,000′ -because it generally never deceases….it gets worse. So, I ask Whoopi, how many flight hours experience do you have?Shame on American Airlines for not supporting the actions their crewmembers took & adhering to Federal Regulations. It’s not easy to approach & correct the actions made by “Hollywood” -specifically on this flight…not to mention all the other Hollywood’s who behave this way. The peception to defend the “View’s Friend Alec Baldwin” might change if you had a loved one who needed immediate medical attention and valuable time was wasted trying to resolve the selfish actions & behavior of someone who should simply walk.

NOW, the question is Why wasnt he arrested (when you return to the gate due to disruptive/safety issues, authorities are to meet the aircraft, detain, book charges until they apear in court.
