Biden 2020? Former Veep Reportedly Set to Open New PAC

Former Vice President Joe Biden is on record as saying that he never thought Hillary Clinton was a great Democratic Presidential candidate in 2016. Now, a new report seems to indicate he might have someone better in mind for 2020: himself.

According to The New York Times, the former Vice President will announce on Thursday the creation of a new political action committee. Such a move commonly serves as a precursor to a run for office.

Biden has been visible of late, with a number of high profile public appearances including a speech at a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. New Hampshire, of course, is home of the first Presidential primary, and a place where a would-be candidate is likely to spend significant time.

If the former Vice President does run, it would be his third bid for the White House — having mounted failed attempts in 1988 and 2008. Should he win, Biden would turn 78 before taking the oath of office. He would become the oldest ever to serve on his very first day surpassing Ronald Reagan, who was 77 when he completed his second term. At age 70, Trump was the oldest ever to be elected to a first term.

Biden’s entrance into the 2020 derby would add to an already jam-packed prospective field. As many as 12 Senate Democrats are said to be exploring possible runs. So too are a number of Governors, Mayors, and even The Rock.
