Bill O’Reilly Spars With Tavis Smiley And Cornel West Over Wall Street Corruption

video

Tavis Smiley and Cornel West appeared on The O’Reilly Factor last night and engaged in a spirited debate with host Bill O’Reilly over poverty, corruption in the financial sector and a jobless rate that is growing to nearly 20% in African-American demographic. The two sides of the debate represented distinct ideological points-of-view, which made for a remarkably compelling discussion of various of hot topics in the news, namely Occupy Wall Street and a struggling economy.

Smiley and West seemed to have been joined at the hip of late, having appeared on numerous television programs to promote their eponymous radio program, as well as bring awareness to the plight of joblessness in the African-American community. They make a formidable and entertaining team, as the each present a similar perspective on what ails the country but with a different skill set.

To help celebrate the 15th anniversary of Fox News, O’Reilly took his show on the road last night, delivering his show live and with a studio audience in Boston. This created quite a different setting for Factor viewers accustomed to the typically controlled environment at Fox News studios.

The discussion was focused primarily on alleged corruption in the financial sector that has been brought under the spotlight with the Occupy Wall Street protests. When O’Reilly cited Merrill Lynch CEO Stanley O’Neal as an example, West asked his host why he cited the one of five black CEOs, to which O’Reilly shot back “knock it off with the black business will ya?”

Credit goes to West, Smiley and O’Reilly for engaging in an earnest, if not at times combative, dialog between what appeared to be diametrically opposed points of view. The only regret was that the debate was so short and not moderated, for this sort of discussion actually seems to bridge a divided nation instead of driving sides away from one another.

Having tutored poor inner city blacks and illegal mexicans I have been in 100 federal tit recieving homes.  First they all have 1 or 2   50″ wall hung tv’s.  I have none.  All had every game systems.  I have none.  Most had really cool rims.  I have none.  Most sell their federal food allowance for 50 cents on the dollar to by “other” stuff.  Most are not married because to do so would be a cut in their (female) handouts.  Me?  I tutored them for free and have none of the above because I pay student loans.  Any questions?

I forgot the hair and nails being done every other week and plenty of alcohol around.

Delighted to see Tavis Smiley drop his ratings 45% in that short an interview. The hatred and anger was smoking off of him so heavily, I thought my old console tv would overheat.
Guys, when are you going to discuss the book about Obama’s mother? Didn’t think so.

Hehe…that reminds me of when I was living in Atlanta last year.  The local power company allows people to donate money every month to help other people who cant pay their heating bill.  A local paper wrote an article on how donations were down last year and then did an expose on one poor women who could only afford to heat one room in her house.

Then they made the mistake of providing a picture of her in her house.  She was late 20′s, perfectly healthy, Nice couch, cell phone on the coffee table, HUGE flat screen TV, and an XBOX next to it.  And there she stood, in the middle of the photo, looking at the camera with an annoyed look on her face that just said “why aren’t you selfish people helping me”?  Anyway, right after that I stopped kicking in the extra $10 a month that I was doing in months prior.

It is isn’t it?  They kept doing it – it was like neither had a mind of their own.  They’d look at each other and bam – the comedy routine.  Have no idea what their shtick was, but intelligence was not one of their attributes.

I think O’Reilly was kind to them, cause he could have ripped them from Boston to San Diego for their silly talking points.

as dr. west said, he can’t say what laws were broken because there were no investigations.

not sure where it went, but i remember carl levin asking for an investigation into goldman sachs(?) for misleading investors into buying something they claimed in an e-mail was a “shitty deal”.

i could understand a republican trying to sweep this under a rug, but i’m very surprised with levin (well, not so much levin, but claire mccaskel also asked the scumbag about their “shitty deal” and i don’t see her being influences by big bank.)

  • JimR

    AWWWWWWW !

Wow- Look , Bill has “Anus & Andy” on his show. Loved how when asked what law the bankers broke, the two race baiters literally howled and then proceeded to show they could not name one lw that was broken by the bankers.

  • Anonymous

I don’t get it- those two didn’t say anything that rhymed.

  • Anonymous

I don’t agree with everything West says. I take issue with a good deal of things he’s said before. The man is intelligent though. I’ll give him his props. Lala, who was over in another thread trying to tell blacks they didn’t have a real American black experience, throws out the question of how, oh how, could West be a professor at an ivy league school. Someone claiming Oregon and status as a conservative claims, matter-of-factly, it’s due to Affirmative Action. The rest of the thread proceeds with jokes of Mr. West’s appearance and intellect. You’ll have to forgive Oregon_Conservative for that. Some racists haven’t been brought up to date. You don’t say these things in such a direct manner, anymore. You throw out a coincidental question, find some other way to subtly suggest it, or send it to Herman Cain so he can say it for you. Listen, I know there are Republicans/Conservatives who are not racist, and do not condone such conduct, but as I said before, contrary to what Herman Cain wants you to think, the black community, by and large, has nothing against blacks who don’t support Democrats, they have something against blacks who support the Republican/Conservative agenda. I wonder why.

  • Anonymous

Smiley and West are in the same league as Rangel, Sharpton, Jackson, Jackson-Lee, Waters, Obama and most other black liberals. They reap great financial rewards by playing the victim and race cards on behalf of their less fortunate brethren. They can’t actually DO something about the problem of inequities and poverty because they are the problem.

  • Anonymous

There has been an investigation to show there is nothing to investigate.  You can’t just decide you want an “in depth investigation” because you want one – there is nothing to investigate and you want tax payer money spent on investigating nothing.

Seriously, there is no proof – your hunch/and his, is not proof.  If there was anything pointing to something corrupt – you know they would have been on it like a fat kid on a payday bar.

Want to investigate Frank and Dodd?  That’s where the “problem” started and you’re not interested in going after them to find out who/what/where/why.  So, you want selective “investigations”.  In other words, a witch hunt.

p.s.  want to “investigate” Holder – hell, enough proof and still stalling – what gives?

  • Josh-Gladstone

Look.  Money and greed is good.  Ask any celebrity who supports OWS.

  • Anonymous

These two people are off the deep end. I have never heard of such crazy statements as these two have made. Are you kidding me that Cornel West is a professor? This is what is wrong with our education sysyem if colleges allow crazy people like this to teach our young generation. Very sad!

You got to understand that it isn’t Bills fault – he has a very confused demographic that he has to cater to.

They are for class warfare except when they aren’t for it.

And it is easier to be against it and for it when it is against a black guy.  But he is also a job creator so its a tough position.

  • van

Nope.  The entire reason affirmative action is a terrible idea is represented in individuals like Cornel West and Barack Obama.  These individuals are not required to actually succeed or show innovation, they must simply show up to give moron white liberals their guilt fix.  That is how we end up with a moron president who calls the opposing party his enemies, blames everyone else for his failures, and is generally a SCOAMF.

I have done charity work with Habitat for Humanity in Florida, helping black people (Homestead and Overtown) and with Appalachian Service Project, helping poor white people in Kentucky (Chavais).

The common denominators were the fact that ALL the volunteers were mostly old white folks and that the recipients – mostly younger and stronger than the volunteers – just sat around while the volunteers  worked.

And one more thing: All volunteers were Republicans/conservatives.

Of course to your way of thinking, I misunderstand. When you make the statement you did, you have related race to the subject of the conversation. If a doctor gives a patient a Rorschach test, the doctor is not going to suggest to the patient that some might see it as a pretty butterfly. Do you know why? It’s because if the doctor does that, the doctor will have created the association with that image through his suggestion.

Anyone who refers to Bill O’Reilley as “Billo the clown” is obviously a Keith Olbermann devotee, since Olbermann used that monicker for years in his desperate attempts to get O’Reilley to respond.

Wait, I am going to assume you think Bush was the bee’s knees so I am going to throw Jimmy Carter out there…

You know what? He is an idiot, but as it seems I’m saying more and more lately, give credit where it is due. There are people out there that are like that. Fedup and I have noted this many times. He’s an idiot for trying to blanket his experiences over the poor population, without even bothering to offer any reforms as Shonangreg pointed out, and the whole point about the federal tit and student loans which you pointed out.

A little, but well known, fact these LLLs try to keep on the dl. What is sad is the upcoming generation of LLLs have no clue about this history because of the LLLs have control over public school curriculum. Keep at ‘em though, you’re doing fine; tweaking the left, doing it right.

The very last paragraph raises an important point, there must be moderated and lengthy debate of these issues. I would rather have that than the normal scream and talk-over each fests that the mainstream alphabets normally serve up. It would certainly demonstrate the superiority of thinkers on the conservative side over the so-called nuanced intellectuals on the left.

Having tutored wealthy white kids whose parents massively benefited from congressionally protected tax loopholes and tax-funded bank bailouts, I have been in millions of federal tit receiving homes. First of all, the kids of the wealthy are really big job creators. They’re so dumb they gave me a job teaching them basic middle school algebra even though some were in college. They were also willing to pay me to actually do their homework and type their papers because they were otherwise too pilled out or hungover to try, and they knew that, because of all of their hard work and merit and thanks to the fact that money makes money if you know how to invest it and then hide the profit, they were going to inherit daddy’s wealthy and business one day anyway. Oh, and they think anyone who isn’t rich is lazy. Me? I tutored them because Jesus told me to tutor the dumbest of this earth. Any questions?

And so it is with many, many activists. If the problems they “fight” were ever fixed, they’d be out of a job. That will not do.

And Herman Cain thinks Blacks who vote Democrat are brainwashed. The problem is worse than he anticipated. Now they’re controlling the minds of those on the right! Zounds! We must put an end to their nefarious machinations post haste!

Humor aside, you do realize that some of the people you use, from your first paragraph, to support your assertion, in your second paragraph, have criticized President Obama. So either they consider themselves racists, or you were just floating a straw man argument in place of their actual views, as it is easier for you to defeat an argument of your own creation.

No one said anything about bankers on wallstreet being squeeky clean.  The question is did they actually break the law?

As for the wall street bankers, what could be considered morally wrong, and what is actually against the law are two different things.

Ah, ah, ah! Simon said video. Really though, I honestly think your preconceptions are forcing you to make that picture fit what you want it to. Let’s examine some things:

“She also spent four hours waiting in line to try to get free heat versus four hours finding a job or selling her 60 inch tv and or X box in order to heat her house for the next 3 years.”

Here’s a quote from your link: “Kelley said she was unemployed for a year before recently landing a job.”

She has a job. She was out of work for a year. There’s a picture of a shut off tv and what appears to be a gaming system. Any of these could have been purchased prior to her layoff or a gift. The article mentions heating assistance not free heat. That’s a little different. I can assure you that tv and Xbox aren’t going to heat her home for three years, at least not by selling them. Maybe she can turn them on to produce heat, but then you substitute a high heating bill for a high electric bill. The way you described the situation I was really expecting a picture of someone living the life. There’s a tv and a game system. I suppose you’ll say she should sell it, next. Why not begrudge the poor even the few items they have, right? I’m sure that’s what your fellow poster up above did. He sold all of his physical possessions, hell even his blood, before applying for those student loans.

You could be right about this woman, you could be wrong. As I’ve demonstrated you don’t really know. You just make a lot of assumptions to fit the picture you want to see. For all we know, we could be arguing about a picture of some lady standing in front of a broken tv and overheated xbox.

Yeah, the Federal Government just nationalized the student loan industry in the healthcare bill, of all things. What is that? Why is that? And now you can’t discharge them in bankruptcy. Hmmm…

  • Guest

Well…I can’t knock you for a coherent response with at least a reasonable rebuttal.

Here’s my angle though.  If I were unemployed, and could not afford heat, step one would be, look around, offload some of the unnecessary things I have, then pay for the heat.  When my living space is bare, there is no food in the cabinet, after monumental efforts I cant find a job….THEN and only THEN, do I go to the public and the government for a hand out…and when I do that, I go with a high degree of humility and some embarrassment….not a sense of entitlement.

The reason I would do this is because I feel ultimately that I am responsible to take care of myself and my family, and I would only seek help when I have exhausted all means to support myself.

This women here in this article is not destitute and is not starving…and she still possess the means to take care of herself.  However, she is a product of a dependant mentality.  This mentality the liberals nurture, encourage, and perpetuate in order to secure a rock solid voting block, at the expense of everyone else.

How is HELPING the poor going “off the deep end”? And it doesn’t matter if these “crazy people” are teaching the kids when no one is going to fucking HIRE THEM! You know why? Because there is NO JOBS because your “job creators” are shipping them off to other countries. Oh but don’t forget to give them that extra tax break because they “deserve it.” Oh yeah, that sounds nice.

  • Pablo

    Oh, there’s plenty.

“You’ve never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never. They always say, ‘We can’t believe it happened here. We can’t believe it’s these suburban white kids.’ It’s only them!”
“Barack Obama wants to create a green wave, but he wants to make sure a green wave lifts all boats and benefits all Americans,” Jones added.

“For the African-American community, there is an energy technology building.”

“I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of.’…I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary…. I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist.”

Thing is, Van prefers to use “poor”, “urban” and “people of color” more than “black” or “African-American”. That probably has a lot to do with his “forgo the cheap satisfaction of the radical pose for the deep satisfaction of radical ends” philosophy.

BTW, why did Jones’ Color of Change launch a Glenn Beck boycott? Do you know?

use your ”Real Dollars” formula to see if Tax Revenue was still higher in 2006 and 2007 even with Bush’s Tax cuts in place versus tax revenue in 2000….Here you go (tax revenue in actual dollars):2000—>2.025 Trillion2006—>2.406 trillion
    2007—>2.568 trillion

    no cheating off your neighbor….ready….go!

  • msblkwidow

Hmmm!  I’ve had the exact same experience.  I tutor in rural Missouri where there a lots and lots of poor Whites.  I’ve discovered the same scenarios…big screen T.Vs, lots and lots of alcohol,  babies wearing soggy pampers, the lingering aroma of Methanphetamine permeating the trailors. and what’s worst the dads are usually home knocked out from a previous nights drunken spree.  Now, I don’t know if my clients are married or not because I’ve never asked.

One thing about it, we can assume anything.  For who knows where these people get their cash, and it’s not for us to say.  According to Herman Cain, you need to stop blaming others because you are not rich (can’t afford the finer things in life) and blame yourself.  Uh huh!  That’s what Herman Cain said.  So stop whining.

Finally, I guess the poor folk have learned how to get in on the action too.  Wall Street has been stealing for many many years – at least since the mid-70s.  You know what happened politically in the mid 70s don’t cha?  Look up Glass/.Steagall.

Yes, white people do the same shit. Congratulations! You’re figuring the problem out.

Tavis Smiley pulling the race card on O’Reilly when he brought up Stanley O’Neil shows what a truly sick individual he is. We’re supposed to give O’Neil a pass for his greed because he’s one of five black CEO’s? He ran that company into the ground and walked away with more than $100 million. Who gives a damn what color his skin is? Smiley and his Marxist buddy Cornel West are an absolute disgrace.

Did anyone else notice a fly buzzing around?

At any rate, I have to mention this. We see how that post was put out there and some assumptions were made that were a bit premature. I applaud the author for acknowledging the legitimacy of the questions I raised about those assumptions. I’m not trying to rag on someone who can admit another’s point of view. I would be remiss, however, if I did not point out how even after my rebuttal that post has continued to receive “Likes,” from a number of other posters. In addition that post was in reply to another post painting poor Blacks and Mexicans as hustlers playing the system. You can see how that bolsters a stereotype, and how those stereotypes stick around even in the face of contradictory information. As I said before, there are people that do abuse the system, but I challenge you to name a system that is completely free of corruption. How many can we come up with? Our own Democracy doesn’t meet that standard. The Constitution wasn’t perfect. Yet, it is mostly when talking about programs to benefit the needy that we want to throw the baby out with the bath water.

  • Rio

All those democrats running the House and Senate from the collapse until January of 2011, and what? no investigations?  Why did they not use all that power they had to get to the bottom of it?

Perhaps they just wanted to use it as a talking point to beat up the republicans and the former administration.  Perhaps they know why our economy collapsed but didn’t want to hand that information over to the public.

I am not siding with Obama or the dems on anything. They should be investigating the banks. Eric Schneiderman, the attorney general of New York has been trying to but according to The New York Times, the Obama administration has been pressuring him to give up. (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/22/business/schneiderman-is-said-to-face-pressure-to-back-bank-deal.html?_r=1)

The democrats aren’t getting away with this and they should be accountable for trying to stop the investigation, ESPECIALLY Obama. That’s why I am a progressive. Screw Obama, the democrats and the republicans. At this point, the only people I like is Barney Frank, Bernie Sanders, Rand Paul and Ron Paul. And that is unfortunate.

Good point. A reason to investigate is maybe, the bank bailouts of 2008? Maybe the financial collapse in 2008? How about all of those tax cuts we give them and how they say they use it to create jobs? You know what… just investigate them about how they fucked us over in the past 5 years. That seems like a good reason.

Bill is mentally deranged…literally sick in his head. One second he cries and moans about “attacking” Cain and then INSTANTLY attacks Belafonte personally. Then denies it.

Further more, when called out on on his constant trivializing of the suffering and injustice that goes on the black community he IMMEDIATELY defends himself with some red herring claptrap about how he gives to the poor, thereby changing the subject from injustice to philanthropy. Then denies that he was doing that.

Let’s not get into the fact that he choose that CEO to attack saying he did “most egregious” things yet get’s OFFENDED when saying that the rest of the fat cats on Wall Street and the banksters are probably guilty of crimes.

WE, at this point have ZERO CLUE why WALL STREET was bailed out.. we have NO IDEA exactly what they did, and I’m sure most people would really like to know IF there are some serious white collar criminals STILL running the nerve center of our financial system.

Why aren’t they all in the community – giving them hope, tools, courage to get up and out of their predicament?  They take these poor people’s money, use it to live the high life and discourage them from rising up and doing for themselves.  Then these two morons compound it by ridiculing Cain – who says – yes it’s possible, look at me!  I made it and so can you.  To those two louts that was a horrible message – and West misquoted Cain to further his lie.
Why are they not giving them a helping hand?  Why are they instead constantly telling them they are victims and must act like victims?  They hated Cosby for trying to help them, instead of encouraging them to blame others.

Did you watch Blankfein, et al before congress, talking about taking position against products they sold, which the described in internal memoranda as “shit”? Have you noticed how many penson funds are suing Goldman and others for fraud? That there aren’t prosecutions does not mean there is no crime.

Obama’s Justice department also declined to prosecute the torturers Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. Some in this country and elsewhere thing that THEY are criminals. You won’t see any of them traveling to certain countries for fear of arrest.

I made my point. MY topic is selective prosecution; what constitutes crime in America, and why, and that one doesn’t become rich just because one desires riches. You and “Black Walnut” seem to believe that to be the case or, at least, you both pretrend to believe it. I was pretty clear about that.

I’m sure Cain’s parents wanted to be rich, but they never made it. They worked very, very hard, at a time when that was all African-Americans could do, work harder. Smarter wasn’t an option, since intellect was deemed reserved for Caucasians. They never got rich. I bet they wanted to be, but the work available to them couldn’t make them rich in a million years.

Can Herman, or you, explain why THEY ”failed”? The same is true for most Americans. No matter how hard they work, they will never have riches. Hell, the working poor can barely afford a roof over their heads and to feed their children, which is what OWS is about; the end of the myth of the “American Dream”. We will all be better off when we face reallity, even you and “Black Walnut”.

And now I’ll leave you to trying to appear to be pithy.

  • Pit Boss

  • Marbot

Bill O’Reilly is a master at this sort of “interview” style.   The typical segment goes like this:

    1.  Bill asks a question, usually presupposing the person’s answer.
    2.  Interviewee attempts a response.  If Bill doesn’t like the way it’s going, he immediately interrupts.
    3.  After interrupting, Bill usually throws in a personal attack or asks another loaded question, that usually has very little relevance to the initial question.
    4.  Repeat ad nauseum.

End result is that the person being interviewed almost -never- gets a chance to fully answer a question.  In this way, Bill can keep the interviewee off balance and off message.  And that’s all he really wants.  It’s clear by watching him, that he doesn’t care what the other person has to say (unless he agrees with him) and is more concerned about winning the argument.   It’s kind of sad, really.

  • PrezOwerst is a loser

From what you spout, how did your politics and ideology lead you to a place where you would come in contact with these people and how did you hide your racism long enough to be allowed into 100 homes? This “Welfare Queen” story that people of your ilk love to talk about expired in the 1990′s. I guess they thought you were their ‘white friend’ so they let you watch their illegal food stamp transactions. Here is another lie that you told; most poor people live in apartments, NO landlord would let anyone drill holes in their walls to mount a flat screen tv. Most of your ‘ghetto fabulous’ types get there big screens from Rent-A-Center, RAC will not allow you to mount a (THEIR) rented TV on the wall. You just argued yourself right out of your point.  Cain’s Parent’s did what they did and made sure their Son did better than they did.  So your point?  Moot.

Most of our generation, did better than our Parents.  Not because we were brighter, but because they made sure we got things they didn’t get.  They pushed and pulled and booted us into becoming what they didn’t have the opportunity to become.  They didn’t sit back and say “the gov’t will look out for the kid – let’s go Alice”.

You can read all about it – why it was, what it was.  You can also read about when the black family started falling apart and what precipitated it.  I can’t remember the authors name (an economist) who wrote a very interesting and enlightening book about it.  I think his name was Walker – but not sure.

As you can see, Van…the closet Democrats came to power in Congress during this period was in the 107th after the 2000 Election, when there was a 50-50 tie in the Senate, and Tom Daschle was Senate Majority Leader based on the declining GOP Senate number that year.  They NEVER “controlled” Congress at any point of that time period and which means unless Barney Frank has Jedi mind trick abilities, he was never the final word on ANY COMMITTEE until 2007, when the Democrats finally took control of the House, and Nancy Pelosi was named SOTH.

White Conservatives like George Wallace use to win elections as Democrats back then. Then they switched after the CRA of 1964.

     Come on, you know that.

Never will forget a TV news report on a poor black woman complaining she wasn’t getting enough help from the system. She reported to the liberal white female newscaster that the only thing they had to eat off was the box the new color TV came in. I couldn’t believe it. Oh I knew it was happening I just couldn’t believe the stupid reporter for letting the truth get by her. It was a pretty big box and at the time we were watching an old 12″ black and white. This being about 1973. Another time a group of us took Thanks Giving diner to a family who was supposed to be in dire need. Her husband was installing the new satellite dish (1985). This was when they were first out. One of those huge ones they put in the yard and cost a fortune in my world. The system has been broken for a while.

did you watch the interview about civil conversations…apparently you are being hypocritical…just a thought..

  • http://www.facebook.com/ncweb76 Nick Tarlton

If you have such hatred for these people then why did you do this type of work? Believe me I understand your position, but can’t get past the fact that you tutored these people for free and then turn around bashing them. You didn’t have to do it. You could have done something different. Just a thought.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ncweb76 Nick Tarlton

Yeah we all know that people that are down on their lucks are all druggies, alcoholics, and spend all their time in hair and nail salons. That may be true of some, but I hate this modern way that just because someone is on assistance they are considered lazy bums. Everyone receives the same label. Sure there are those that abuse the system, but should we turn our backs on everyone due to the actions of some. There are legit reasons for assistance and people that really need it. I’m a hard working American and have never taken a handout. I’ve worked everyday since I was legal to work and have never been unemployed. I have seen people that were in bad, bad situations through no fault of their own and needed the assistance. So to label everyone as a drug addict, alcoholic, lazy bum is wrong in so many ways I can’t even count them all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ncweb76 Nick Tarlton

But regardless of me working all my life and doing all the right things…if something happens to me to where I need assistance then I will all of a sudden be a lazy bum that is worthless…so sickening to me. BTW for more information…i have worked 16 years without unemployment…i’m 32yrs old.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ncweb76 Nick Tarlton

And in addition as Herman Cain would say…stop blaming other people and earning your TV and game machine. You have no one to blame but yourself….(See how ridiculous that statement is)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WOD6DTEZFJUC4T4LCBVTRVLRAY john

That is a blatant lie! I also am involved with dealing with people in need of assistance. When then come to the agency that I work for seeking assistance I go to their home and investigate their living situation. I make note of exactly what you refer to as these folks having lavish furnishings. Your claim is simply not true.  Your story is simply not believable. Why? Because if it were , why would you not file a complaint with the feds in regards to your findings, second, why would you continue to tutor these people you have such a disdain for that you tell these lies in the first place!  And besides that, what is it you tutor??? Your grammar is terrible!

Cobra, Daschle’s Senate wound up being 51-49 due to Jeffries changing parties.  Barney Frank was ranking member and used his power to enlist the construction and realtor lobbies to thwart regulation of Fannie and Freddie, he did not need to chair the committee.

So, here we go again, the Treasury is again warning that the stability of Fannie and Freddie is again a threat and legislation has been introduced and passed in the House and the same culprits are swooping in to thwart reform.  A letter from the National Council of State Housing Agencies sent to Maxine Waters was read by democrat Carol Maloney on the House floor.  Waters and Frank are still making their anti F&F reform noises in the back round and the bills are stalled in the Senate.

I assumed that because, having benefited greatly from his lectures and his book Race Matters, I happen to have a lot of respect for the guy.  He’s become a bit of a caricature of the person I remember from the mid-nineties.  But still he’s no idiot.

THIS IS JUDGMENTS DAY ! it’s already started; check yourself before you reck youeself. All families aren’t guilty of having the ammenities of the well to do. Maybe some of those opoor families work together, pool their resource together and give 80% of their income to the home bills; then save their 20% until they have enough to buy the amenities they desire. The amenities help to keep the youth at home instead of in the streets. If you got loans I’m sorry I know that the disadvantaged qualified for help but in my day of college some kids were able to get grants but chose not to because they were too proud to. The indians receive repariations until today for the” trail of tears”  America put them through, and they get more than the poor black hebrews(jews) among us today. Perhaps if theblacks got the 40 acers & a mule back in the day when it was suggested by President Lincole they would be better able to help themselves than to depends on the crumbs that fall from the rich man table; but remember this, that it ain’t over til the fat lady sings & remember too, that God don’t like ugly.

I read it and this guy is quite perceptive…. Not sure I would become a fan but possibly if he can maintain that kind of astute observation. What struck me was that as a “liberal” he actually escaped the utopia bubble for a few moments and realizes people don’t always agree and form their own tribes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michelle-Hart/100001365605444 Michelle Hart

Democrat Woodrow Wilson – introduced segrigation, something you never experianced but whine about.
Democrat Franklin Rosevelt – Interned the Japanese and confiscated their posesstions without due process.
Democrat Robert Byrd – was a Grand Kleagle in the Klu Klux Klan
Democrat Jim Crow – was the one who used the fire hoses that you never had to face

Republican Abraham Lincoln – Fought a civil war to free the slaves
Republican Martin L King – Marched to end discrimination
Republican Dwight Eisenhower – Used military force to escort colored into schools as Demorcrats rioted
Republican Harriet Tubbs – started the underground railroad

What’s truly sad it YOU are to much of an idiot to open up a history book a learn any of this, YOU never dealt with the pain and REAL racism that people from those day experienced, YOU grew up listening to pathetic race hustlers like Sharpton and Jackson and are not swift enough to know you gettin played!

YOU have been given all the benifits of what REPUBLICANS fought for and would rather cry and whine like a bitch about how mean everybody is than put your big boy pants on!!

Get a Clue LEARN YOUR OWN HISTORY chump!

  • Snake

You are a liar as I  have lived in the inner city, and know more about this than apparently you ever will. Yes some sell their food stamps to buy other “stuff” call it what it is drugs, and or alcohol and in these homes the kids generally go without. 50 inch TVs if owned last a millisecond before they are pawned, sold, or stolen. Many homes of kids I grew up with didn’t get food unless it was purchased with food stamps and wore second hand clothes why do you think kids get robbed of their jackets, shoes, etc. What middle class kids take for granite secure home, clothes, food at home, etc. does not exist in the hood. Many kids wouldn’t eat if it wasn’t for school meals. You know nothing of the hood maybe you were tutoring in Beverly Hills because it wasn’t Oakland, Richmond, East Palo Alto or any real ghetto.

Bill is out of his league trying to talk to truly intelligent people.

It’s embarrassing. I don’t know of a single liberal who is calling for rich people to hand out their money! How stupid can the right be? They make up bad stuff the left says and then pretend to argue against it.

    Pathetic.

  • http://spacegod.tumblr.com/ spacegod

Interesting that the majority of comments on this thread are racist and derogatory and have very little to do with what was said in the clip. I suspect most of the commenters here who have spewed disgusting outright pure racism did NOT watch the clip. Which once again demonstrates the ignorance of the a lot of the right, and their strange and energetically advertised pride in being stupid.

West and Smiley. What a couple of STUPID beyond belief DOLTS!!  How is that poverty tour going?? With morons like these two it is easy to weep for the future.

  • Miker

    If the “Rich/Have’s”
gave the “Poor/Have-nots” everything they have. In twenty
years the situation would reverse itself again.

    I know people who
floated up on Miami Beach in the 80′s who today own business’s send
their children to private school, own nice home and cars. They spent
years working two or three jobs and saving EVERY penny they could to
    get where they are.

If you will not Bust you
Ass you will remain in poverty period.
