Chris Wallace: If You Didn’t Like Obama Lecturing the Press, You Shouldn’t Like Trump Doing It Either

Fox News’ Chris Wallace today talked about President Trump‘s treatment of the liberal media by recalling how President Obama used to treat Fox News.

Wallace told Harris Faulkner that if you look at other networks, there’s a lot of negative coverage, some of which he’s personally “troubled” by. But he did say that “a lot of it is accurate reporting of things the president doesn’t like.”

And he said just because Trump wants press outlets to fall in line doesn’t mean they should, recalling Trump’s predecessor:

“We got plenty of criticism at Fox from President Obama during the last eight years and we didn’t fall into line because of that, and I think most of the viewers out there salute us for not falling into line. You have to consider, if it’s something that you don’t like, how would you feel if it was the other way around? If you don’t like the idea that President Obama is telling the press what to do, you can’t like it when it’s President Trump, somebody a lot of viewers here may admire, telling reporters what to do.”

Wallace also said on Kilmeade & Friends today that it goes the other way too. People may complain about Trump only picking on friendly outlets, but Wallace said Obama did that too and outlets like Fox ended up getting frozen out at times. He wondered why there wasn’t more outrage in the press when that was going on.
