CNN’s Cuomo Asks Hillary Hard-Hitting Question About Beyonce Super Bowl Performance

vlcsnap-2016-02-23-21h44m16s493During Tuesday night’s CNN Democratic Town Hall, host Chris Cuomo asked presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to weigh in on the controversy surrounding Beyonce‘s Super Bowl halftime show.

It all began when audience member Kyla Gray asked Clinton to address a series of recent racial controversies, including “Ferguson and Black Lives Matter and the recent backlash against Beyonce for her Formation video.”

When Clinton gave a detailed answer that did not mention Beyonce, Cuomo stepped in to rectify the situation. “You know, Kyla mentioned Beyonce. Let’s talk about Beyonce for a second, because why not?” he said.

Cuomo noted that Beyonce’s halftime show upset a lot of people in the law enforcement community who believed it had pro-Black Panthers and anti-police themes. “Now there’s this resulting call, ‘Don’t buy her CD’s, don’t support her because she does not support the police,'” he said. “Do you understand where they’re coming from? Do you agree?”

Clinton gave an answer that again avoided mentioning Beyonce. She praised the police but said that there were problems in the criminal justice system, “putting aside any celebrity or any particular song or performance.”
