Dem Rep. Says White House Pushed Back at Him for Border Criticism

Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX), who has been outspoken about the administration’s lack of preparedness with regard to the border crisis, told Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade Wednesday morning that he had received pushback from the White House for his comments.

“A lot of times this administration gets angry when their own party speaks up and speaks out,” Kilmeade said. “Ask Cory Booker about that. Have you gotten that call?”

“Yes, I have,” Cuellar responded. “But let me just say this, I’m not concerned about who gets angry at me at the White House. I’m more concerned about my constituents, who want to find a practical solution to this question that we’re facing down there at the border.”

“Who called you?” Kilmeade asked. “What, did they tell you to pipe down?”

“We’ll just leave it like that,” Cuellar said. “But notice what I’m doing. I’m still talking about it.”
