Father and Two Sons Narrowly Survive Bizarre Michigan Car Bomb Attack
A car bomb seriously injured a Michigan lawyer and his two sons after their Volvo exploded on the road Tuesday. The vehicle erupted in a massive fireball that melted the car to its frame, but somehow, miraculously, the three were able to escape from the blast alive.
“OK, we have a bad accident. My car blew up with two kids,” Erik Chapell told a 911 dispacher. “You’ve been called on it already, but I’m telling you what’s going on with the boys, OK. I’ve got two significant leg injuries.”
The vehicle detonated on the road following his son’s football practice in Monroe, Michigan.
According to ABC News, authorities believe the bombing was a criminal attack, not terrorism. They also say that whoever planted the bomb “placed it in such a way that it would inflict as much damage as possible.”
The ATF is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of whoever was responsible for the attack.
