Fox News Contributor Slams Charles Krauthammer For Suffering From ‘Obama Derangement Syndrome’
Fox News Channel contributor Julie Roginsky took a shot at President Barack Obama’s critics on Wednesday, particularly syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer. Roginsky said that Krauthammer has begun to appear reflexively opposed to any of the president’s proposals, regardless of their merit. She proceeded to diagnose Krauthammer as having come down with “Obama derangement syndrome,” a play on a charge that Krauthammer himself had leveled at President George W. Bush‘s critics in the last decade.

Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly invited her panel guests to weigh in on a comment made by Krauthammer on Tuesday night’s The O’Reilly Factor. Krauthammer said that the Obama administration is singularly focused on reducing spending by cutting the defense department because of the president’s worldview, which posits that America is “too big for its britches.”
Kelly outlined some of the concerns that Republicans voiced about Obama’s mistrust of American hegemony before he was elected to a first term. Kelly asked Roginsky if she agreed with that assessment, that Obama wants the United States to become more “introverted” in its defense policy.
“Obama campaigned twice on ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and both times the American people gave him 51 percent of the vote,” Roginsky replied. “If Charles is unhappy with that, I’m sorry, but it is something he was very upfront in saying he was going to do before he ever became president. And he’s followed through on it.”
Roginsky went on to say that she sees hypocrisy in critics of Obama’s foreign policy. “To me, I’m going to paraphrase something that Krauthammer actually said about Bush – where he said that Democrats had ‘Bush derangement syndrome’ – I’m starting to think that Charles is actually having Obama derangement syndrome.”
Kelly concluded by saying that Krauthammer, a trained psychologist, would be able to self-diagnose his own “derangement syndrome” should the need ever arise.
