Fox’s Bob Beckel: ‘It’s Time to Move On’ From 9/11, Scrap the Patriot Act

 

Appearing on Fox News Saturday morning, Fox analyst Bob Beckel said that the Patriot Act had been passed in panic after 9/11, but that the event was over a decade old and the laws it spurred needed to be revised.

“A lot of these abuses began with the Patriot Act,” Beckel said, responding to a discussion about surveillance. “As usual, when we have a crisis, we pass laws very quickly. And the Patriot Act, if you read it, allowed for a lot of the blanket interpretation for this stuff to happen. The Patriot Act should go away. I know you hate to hear this, but 9/11 is over a decade old. It’s time for us to move on.”

“Mvoe on, Bob?” said Jonathan Hoenig. “What about ‘Never Forget?’ I think it’s disgusting.”

“It’s a day you shouldn’t forget, it’s also a day that shouldn’t tie you down,” Beckel said.
