Jason Jones Leaving The Daily Show for TBS Sitcom
Jason Jones announced today that he would be leaving The Daily Show, where he’s been a correspondent for nearly ten years, to star in an upcoming sitcom on TBS.
According to Vulture, Jones’s untitled family-oriented sitcom, written with his wife and fellow Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee, was picked up for a ten-episode run today by TBS. Based on their married life, the show will start filming this summer and premiere sometime in the fourth quarter of 2015.
It’s unclear whether Bee will leave as well: while she’s the executive producer of the show, she is also the longest-serving correspondent on The Daily Show having joined the show in 2003, and a clear frontrunner for Jon Stewart‘s chair after he leaves later this year.
Jones confirmed the reports on Twitter:
For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time.
But…
It is time for me to go.
