Joe Biden Drops F-Bomb During Historic Health Care Signing (Update)

video

Fox News was first to report that Vice President Joe Biden may have dropped an F-bomb during the signing of the Health Care bill in the White House today, and to be honest, we missed it. But upon closer inspection, yes, he did. After giving a short warm-up speech in advance of President Obama‘s speech, Biden turned to embrace the President and said “this is a big f*cking deal!” (At about the 20 second mark.)

Update: Pres Secretary Robert Gibbs responds on Twitter: “And yes Mr. Vice President, you’re right…” So maybe they’re hoping to brush this off with a health dose of good humor. [GM]

Fuck yes, Joe you’re awesome in so many ways.

  • TylerDurdin

    Biden never fails to fail.

The gaffe master at his best.

  • Fidoohki

What? I dropped a few of them when this thing passed myself. :)

So now it is official. Obamacare, one baby step closer to slavery, is law.

  • SWWT

Ok, how exactly is this Health Care Bill in any way a step closer to slavery?

  • same2u

    Well said JB.

  • smack

no sh*t captain obvious, you irrelevant douche!

  • hatehavingtodothis

Fidoohki- If you honestly believe that giving Americans the assurance of health care is a baby step closer to slavery, then you are a disgrace and I am embarrassed to share this great nation with you.

  • cappi

    Hello hate…

I think the point that Fidoohki was making is that this law, taken as a whole transfers a huge amount of power and control to the federal government. Freedom is like a pie that belongs 100% to each of us at birth. Whenever we allow the government to take pieces of the pie, there is less left for each individual. Of course there are legitimate functions of government. No question. But health care is not one of them. I know you will disagree with me on that and I am not particularly interested in hearing your explanations/justifications for how health care IS a legitimate function of government. That gulf will NEVER be spanned.

As to calling people a disgrace and being embarrassed to share this great nation with them, it is YOU who is spewing antagonism with words that at least imply that you think that person should be ejected from this country…or killed…or silenced in some other form, which I am sure you will fully explain how THAT is the legitimate function of government also.

I don’t know you and you probably don’t know anyone else on this board personally. On those thoughts that each of us have put in writing here. Based upon THAT and that alone you can determine that you dislike and abhor another citizen of this country enough to be embarrassed by/for them?

I don’t think that the difference between left and right here is a matter of “hate” as I can see a great deal of evidence of that from BOTH sides, and THAT includes YOU. It is a matter of philosophical divide that frankly has been debated from the beginning of this country until today. In all that time, men were able to respect the people while opposing the political position. We in America today seem to have lost the ability to do that.

Our history is very fascinating. I am 58 years old and have spent a lot of time in “classrooms” and almost none of the history I am reading now was ever covered. It shows that this country can overcome political differences IF we stay close to the original intent and CONTENT of the constitution.

Well, I think you owe Fidoohki and apology. It won’t lessen you or the beliefs you hold. But it will raise you in the esteem of honest Americans that long for debate not hate.

  • TinkerBrendie

Actually, he said “This is a big f*cking STEAL.”

  • Big Sir

There’s some things in this health care bill most Americans like but as once a Democrat and now an Independant ( as of yesterday ) I like many people I know are switching mainly because of how this procedure was done, not caring at all about our Constitution, sentiments, taxes etc. Wait until everyone is done celebrating and then the big ” fall hits “. The people in this country are going to see, health care rationed, doctors quitting, our economy as we once enjoyed our freedom to work hard and make money go down the drain. There’s going to be division in this country like no one ever imagined. You think this was historic, wait until Americans who are angry rise up and fight back. That will make history

  • MichelleF

Big Sir, I agree 100%. It seems like the Dems are celebrating their “victory” more than the awful legislation itself. And who was their victory over, a MAJORITY of the American people who will not forget as they hope we will.

  • Snipzor

Michelle, your ideology has been thoroughly mocked since the beginning of the teaparties, and the passage of the bill has only made your ideology fill itself up with reactionary fools. This in turn has had the republican party revert to the Southern Strategy (Or rather, push it further), thus showing how truly insane they are by screaming about “The American People” and “Socialism” and occasionally “OMG A SEKRIT MOOSELIMB”.

Anyways, what I’m trying to say in this garbled up comment, is this. You are not the majority.

  • Ted

Snipzor – MichelleF’s “majority” is shrinking just a bit more every day. They don’t like it and therefore, the vile and repugnant tea-party tantrums. I’d expect to see more of that as they lose their grip.

  • Big Sir

Three months ago, I had a dream that Pelosi, Biden etc were standing behind a table ( one like they stood behind when taking the votes in the House ) All of a sudden in front of the Democrats way at the back of the room where the Senators were sitting there was a huge 20 ft. ” Golden Gavel “. The gavel at first had a hard time being hoisted up by a rickety old crane, but the people trying to hoist it up several times kept trying. All of a sudden, the Golden Gavel moved toward Pelosi, Biden etc and just as it touched the table ( where Pelosi was standing, the gavel came CRASHING down on their table with a loud ” BANG ” and the 2700 page health care bill that was sitting unbound on top of the table flew up in the air everywhere, the table totally broke in half and the ” look ” on Pelosi’s face was SHOCK. If the Golden Gavel ” means the people, or Supreme Court or the Nov & 2012 elections, I don’t know. But it’s not over.

  • Snipzor

Ah yes, the “moral majority”, I keep forgetting that it is in the process of dying as we speak. Who was it again that coined the term? I have the urge to punch them in the face, really hard. Straight shot.

  • MichelleF

I never said the Tea-Parties, which by the way I’ve never said I’m apart of but do tend to agree with them. I said a MAJORITY of the American people are against it, and that IS true according to every poll. The Dem’s have lost I’s so good luck winning without them. I’m not sure how you come to the conclusion that that is a southern strategy, but you libs do tend to be delusional, in my experience.

I realize you libs have trouble with the concept of Morals.

  • Snipzor

Is this majority you are speaking only the “moral majority” which is in turn not a majority, but rather a very vocal minority? Or is the majority only encompassing “Real Americans”, a term coined by that weird Michele Bachmann, because if it is one of the two. Well, to put it simply, you still aren’t the majority. Also (Might as well post the actual comic). What polls?

Snip, according to the Real Clear Politics Average, the current view of HC is:

    39.7% Favor
    50.2% Against

cappi- I appreciate your long and thoughtful comment. You’re right, there are some impassable gulfs here. I think that every American should have health insurance. I don’t think everyone is born 100% free. I think your view of “freedom” is more idealistic than any of the social justices this reform bill is aiming to correct. We disagree here, and no comment to comment arguments will ever flush out the nuances of what we believe, so I’m up for letting it drop.

And sorry, but your comment made me no less disgusted at whoever said that health care reform was a step towards slavery. I am disgusted at the undertones of incitation of “slavery”. I am disgusted at the lack of reason and rationale behind this extreme-ist slippery-slope argument that is just not true. The threat to democracy that I fear the most right now is the mis-information spread by fear-mongering reactionaries like fidoohki.

You’re right. Hate is coming from both sides. I hate mis-information. Hence, my slightly more hateful than usual tone taken against the “Obama is leading us towards slavery” BS. I’m not attacking you, or the legitimate arguments against health care… just the fake ones.

America won and you lost, get over it.

Proud, most American’s don’t believe that, but keep gloating, because it just gives the majority of American’s that don’t want this fired up, to use BO’s line.

  • Snipzor

“Most American’s who actually read Real Clear Politics like the right-wingers they are don’t believe that because they are a bunch of ideologues who never actually bothered to pay attention to the debate, to the point where they just have a consensus with each other that all opinions counter to their own are communist and fascist despite how the two of them conflict with each other”

    Fixed that for you. *phew*

  • MichelleF

    Snipzor,
I’m not sure if you realize this or care, but Real Clear Politics looks at the average of top polls including,

    CNN 39/59
    CBS 37/48
    Rasmussen 41/54
    Fox 35/55
    NBC 38/48
    Pew 38/48
    AP 41/43
    Gallup 45/48

You calling a majority of Americans stupid and unimformed doesn’t help your cause.

  • Ted

    New USAToday/Gallup poll

Was passing the Health Care Reform bill a “good thing” or a “bad thing”. 49% to 40% say a good thing.

Obama is hitting the road; watch those numbers climb.

  • Big Sir

We all need to wait now and see what the Health care bill is going to produce. I hope it all works out for everyone, but unfortunately, that seldom happens. The America that we’ve know for several hundreds of years has not changed to keep up with Europe & Canada. Too bad they won’t be able to come to our country anymore to get their health taken care of. Many Europeans ( who can afford it ) and Canadians have used our doctors for years. Maybe we can go to Mexico. LOL!
Taxes are going be flying high for four years from everyone who works to pay for something that doesn’t even come into effect for years. I don’t like Government telling me ” I have no choice in how I spend my money on my body. ” Actually, I’m spending my money to help all of the poor in the USA pay for their health care. I give to charities abroad and in the USA as is. How much more can the government rip through our pockets. They want us to eliminate hard working people who are just trying to live. Why even be encouraged to ” have a small business ” the core of our country.
This is NOT just about health care, it’s about our pocket books and our livelihood. I’ve worked hard, seven days a week for 40 years to build a small one person business and now see my profits being squeezed by the government. I pay already in taxes, federal, state, city etc already what most people make in a year. How much more are people willing to pay. It’s NOT about health care, it’s about our freedom to live as we choose.

no matter what the benefits are. Even the most well equipped and stocked mansion

  • Big Sir

Let’s let them enjoy their victory ! ( For now. ) They have worked Very hard to fool the USA. I hope he doesn’t bow to anyone else. It’s so tacky!!

  • Snipzor

Considering that at minimum 37% still believe that the bill includes a takeover of the insurance industry, I wouldn’t put much in those polls. Generally the polling is more accurate when the pollsters (Note; never use that word again) actually tell the people they are polling, what is in the actual bill. This actually happened when the public option was an actual option, people strongly disapproved of the bill, the approved highly when it was actually explained to them.

It’s called being a sheep. No, there’s no official name to that. The people who vehemently oppose the bill (Like in the video below) don’t even know what’s actually in it when called to report what’s in the bill, they just think it’s socialist, despite how the bill is if anything a corporatist one.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pilG7PCV448

I wonder what would happen if the people polled were actually told all the information. Wait, I know what would happen.

“Fuck you american people. You don’t tell us what to do. We tell you!”.

  • hatehavingtodothis

How is taking away the American peoples right to choose NOT to buy health insurance not a step towards
    slavery?

  • Snipzor

Actually no, I was the one who said:

“Fuck you teabaggers, you are the minority and are therefore irrelevant in the discussion. If you don’t want to be irrelevant, read the fucking bill for once, or shut up. And stop vandalizing democratic offices around the country, as well as making obvious threats to politicians. You’re only making it much worse.”

In the end, why bother with a group of people who will never in their entire life listen anyways? The moral majority is dying, no point in giving them any credence ever again. As the famous line goes, you’ve already lost. Although that applies to gay marriage more than anything else, or any other generational conflict. But I think it applies here.

Because one gives all Americans health care. The other is slavery. There is no reasonable connection between the two. You think the people who want health care also want slavery? What are you talking about? You continue to scare and amaze me.

Is that like the Democratic office in Denver that got vandalized by one of it’s own?? I remember people of your ilk blaming it on Repubs too. If you have no factual evidence to support your allegation, you should be throwing stones. I’m still waiting for the video with the racial slurs. • Big Sir

Next the government will be telling us ” How to eat, what we can learn and teach our children in school ( like they’re beginning to do already under this administration singing ” Praise Obama ” and especially scarey How to be good parents! Are they the role models for our society to tell US how to be good parents. Granted there ARE bad parents out there but they talk to us as if were children ( or idiots ). They turned off the water for 1 1/2 years in the northern part of California so that the farmers land dried up and had to be subjected to standing in line for food & water for the whole town. Meanwhile in our deep economic turmoil to stay alive, Pelosi runs every week end to her home in San Francisco on Air Force one treating her whole family to the perks paid by us. How about if she’s SO concerned about the poor having health care, why not let the northern part of her State have water. Why not putting 200 million to feed the poor in our country instead of saving 200 million to save the ” marsh mouse “.

That’s why the American people are angry. This health care bill cuts medicare by 500 million dollars. I don’t know about you, but I hope your grandmother & elderly parents can still give you a big hug at night when they learn that their safety net of medicare was just taken away from them. The bill uis already trying to screw with social security. Big Brother is now at every Americans door. Next we’ll all be told we HAVE to have a chip inserted in our bodies like our dogs and cats have done. Won’t that be a victory for the American people. They’re already talking about turning our American dollar to become the ” Euro “. Maybe Obama’s picture will replace George Washington. Think this is just steaming off and a bunch of hype. Wait and see. Your children are inheriting a nation of dictaorship. The beginning is just started.

  • Big Sir

Oh, by the way! I forgot to mention, we’ll all be required to carry a National ID card. I wonder if the number wil be 666

  • Ted

Big Sir – Absolutely, the number will indeed be 666…or 123, who knows. At any rate, all Americans, in addition to becoming followers of the devil will also be required to wear tin foil hats that will thwart attacks from little green Limbaughs from the planet Uranus. Good luck and God speed!!!

  • Big Sir

I have no idea but I have never listened to Limbaugh. I’ve always been a Democrat like I said until yesterday. I was also a constant listener to CNN, MSNBS and CNBC but no more! The government owns them ( not literally but figuratively )
Oh well, what goes around, comes around sooner or later.

  • snexas

I’m very happy this bill passed. Now people with pre-existing conditions can’t be kicked off their insurance. Now impoverished families don’t have to worry every time their children get sick. Now someone who gets a life-threatening illness late in life won’t go bankrupt and lose everything they’ve worked so hard for their entire lives. I already take responsibility for myself and pay for my health insurance so this isn’t going to negatively impact me in anyway. If anything, it protects my future.

  • snexas

Sorry, meant now people with pre-existing conditions can’t be denied insurance.

Number I statement you made ( Now people with pre-existing conditions can’t be kicked off their insurance. ) That doesn’t happen for at least 4 years.
Number 2 – your statement ( Now someone who gets a life-threatening illness late in life won’t go bankrupt and lose everything they’ve worked so hard for their entire lives. ) That doesn’t happen for at least 4 years.

In the mean time, *** you’re required by law that your payments ( collected by the IRS will be paid to the government INCLUDING & IN ADDITION to what you’re own PRIVATE INSURANCE COSTS you MONTHLY to
    your private insurance premiums.
I pay $ 585 a month for just catastrophic health insurance now with a $ 3,000 deductible so I TOO am glad it passed, but not with the ” conditions attached to it. The current bill says that WE have to StART PAYMENTS TO THE GOVERNMENT IN APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE ( TODAY ) THAT IT WAS SIGNED INTO LAW

Change is not immediate, but better late than never.

Big Sir: could you please quote the code?

This HCR is not perfect and will undoubtedly be tweaked as time goes on.

As for Medicare and Social Security…they were already in financial trouble.

Before the gov’t stepped in, health care was in shambles already: those who had money, transportation, insurance and access to quality care received quality care. Others either received substandard care or no care.

Some people, in a foolish attempt to save money, waited until health problems festered and went to hospital emergency rooms as a last resort. In some cases that meant people arrived to find a bothersome lump and pain was a stage 4 inoperable cancer, or an annoying cough became pneumonia or that diet high in junk food, couch potato/drive everywhere/use -a -tv -remote-rather-than-get-up-and-turn-the-thing-off-when physically-well-enough-to-do-so behavior coupled with an irritating urge to urinate frequently and constant thirst is diabetes.

In other countries, Denmark comes to mind, citizens pay half their income to the government and receive high quality health care.

Seems to me that much of the concern was that people have access to affordable quality health care, not the right to choose not to have healthcare.

Is not choosing to have health insurance actually a Do Not Rescusitate order?

If one chooses not to have health insurance, who pays for the needed care later on? Kind of akin to not being able to afford healthcare. Insurance is a risk. If you own home in a flood zone, you pay for flood insurance and hope you never need it. By everyone having insurance, the pool of payers is not limited to a select few.

To Big Sir: I agree…we can all learn to get along on less and use precious resources like water sparingly.
We can also learn to refrain from polluting our limited resource of water through effective farm management including decreasing mass farm practices, stuffing animals in too small spaces, learning about natural fertilization methods, not allowing industrial or homeowner toxins runoff into ground seeping into water base below….

Our leaders can learn to role model this.

  • Big Sir

I’m glad you agree with my ” moral code ” of each person has the freedom to chose how they want to live and especially chose ” whether or not the individual has and maintains ” the right to chose IF they want health care or not. That’s their ” right ” to chose. I do chose and do have health care. This is not my issue. My issue is the ” force ” that’s being put on us. I don’t like being forced to do anything. As far as Denmark giving 50% of their income to health care, that’s their choice.
I already pay 45 % of my income to taxes and don’t feel I should have to fund the rest of the country for their daily living. It’s tough enough to just get by as is.

Be honest Big SIr, right about now you have to be wondering HOW you were even a Dem.

  • Big Sir

Alas ! I was always believing that the democrats were for the people but now I realize the new administration is getting greedy and no longer cares what the majority of the ” common folk ” want. They feel the country should be just like Europe & Canada. How sad for our country.

  • Big Sir

I’m for ” the people “. Maybe I’m too traditional, but I know our forefathers fought hard coming from Europe and fighting for the very freedoms that we once ( after today ) had. My grandparents and parents were farmers. I grew up on a farm. That part of the country was once hard nose democrats. Thank God I woke up and smelled the roses. I’m now very interested in what our government is doing. I’m proud to say, I’m a baby boomer and there’s plenty more like me. Wait until November 2010. The democrats have a rude awakening. Obama has another historical moment. Election day 2012, when he loses. I know more people that voted for him that now turn the channel whenever he’s ready to ” sell ” again.
