Joe Scarborough And Mika Brzezinski Have Tense (Yet Hilarious) Argument Over New Elizabeth Warren Ad

Well, we don’t think Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski found it at all hilarious. Here’s what happened: After showing Massachusetts’ Democratic senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren‘s new political ad featuring President Barack Obama, fellow host Joe Scarborough had a laugh over Warren’s inclusion of the man who fired her.

The ad features President Obama announcing the formation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, sharing that Warren “came up with an idea for a new independent agency that would have one simple overriding mission: standing up for consumers and middle class families.”

“I’m Elizabeth Warren,” said Scarborough after watching the ad. “…and this guy fired me. It’s hilarious. You say it off the air, and I hate to call you out on it when you act so shocked. […] The banks got her fired.”

“Totally different,” said Brzezinski. “Thrown under the bus is completely different than firing.”

“Ok. So she was thrown under the bus?” he continued, laughing. “I love it. I love it. Barack Obama. Elizabeth Warren has created one of the most important consumer agencies ever, and now I’m going to fire her.”

“You had your fun,” Brzezinski told him. “You get to act like an idiot on the set. Now let me ask you a question–”

“Is that your defense mechanism to the truth?” Scarborough asked, interrupting his co-host.

Scarborough later launched into a one-man show, of sorts, depicting Warren being physically thrown under the bus by the President after distracting her with the prospect of seeing Harold Ford, Jr. — who seemed to really get a kick out of both his inclusion in this scenario and Scarborough’s approximation of what a woman’s voice sounds like. (Imagine Julia Childs after drinking too much cough syrup.)

The segment ended with Brzezinski once again calling Scarborough an “idiot” as he continued with his Warren impression.
