Scarborough Mocks Hannity at Trump Rally: ‘Spreading the Big Lie’

Monday was the last day before the midterm elections and President Donald Trump finished his flurry of political rallies in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with some of the brightest conservative stars sharing the stage.

Rush Limbaugh, who hails from Cape Girardeau, was joined by Fox News stalwarts Sean Hannity and Jeanne Pirro, which raised some eyebrows questioning the advocacy role played by hosts of a network that claims to be an (at times) news outlet.

Hannity denied that he was campaigning for Trump and was instead there for an interview, but anyone who watched his stump speech would likely think otherwise.

The incongruity of Hannity’s behavior on the Trump rally stage and his pre-campaign stop explanation caught the attention of Morning Joe, in particular, Hannity’s cable news rival Joe Scarborough, who derided Hannity for claiming he wasn’t actually campaigning:

You have Rush Limbaugh at the campaign last night lying saying Hillary Clinton and the Russians colluding? How stupid does Rush Limbaugh think the people behind him are? You have Sean Hannity campaigning saying I am not campaigning. If you’re going to campaign, own it. There’s Sean Hannity campaigning. Free country. Free to do it if they want to, but everybody is following Donald Trump’s lead. They’re lying through their they’re spreading the big lie. They are attacking nonwhite people. And Donald Trump has chosen, he has chosen to choose racism over a strong economy.

The heavy suggestion here is not just that Hannity was lying about not campaigning on behalf of the Commander in Chief, but that he and his fellow supporters of the Trump campaign were “spreading the big lie” regarding the alleged invasion of “caravan” migrants approaching the southern U.S. border by foot.
