Morley Safer Is Retiring From 60 Minutes After a Whopping 46 Years
One of the biggest names in broadcast news is retiring after a long and seismic career at 60 Minutes.
Morley Safer announced today that he is retiring from the long-running CBS newsmagazine after joining in 1970. (60 Minutes began in ’68.)
The show’s EP, Jeff Fager, explained to CNN that they were in discussions about this for the past year. Safer had apparently only had one report on 60 Minutes this season, featuring a Danish architect.
60 Minutes will air a special this coming Sunday called Morley Safer: A Reporter’s Notebook.
