Forget Katrina, Fox News Guest Thinks BP Spill Could Be Obama’s ‘Watergate’
President Obama‘s handling of the BP Oil spill seems to simultaneously be providing the public with a quick review of 20th Century history. Initially, the BP Oil spill was Obama’s Katrina. More recently Obama’s handling (or lack thereof) of the crisis inspired some not-so-flattering WWII comparisons from David Gergen who said that if the Gov. had handled the Second World War in similar fashion we’d all be speaking German. Yesterday, Shepard Smith said the spill could end up being worse than 9/11. And today it’s apparently Obama’s Watergate.
Fox News contributor, and Mississippi congressional candidate, Angela McGlowan told Bill Hemmer this morning that “Not only could this be Obama’s Katrina, it could be Obama’s Watergate.”
One presumes she was speaking metaphorically, since there is zero evidence that any secret, backroom dealings on Obama’s part resulted in this catastrophe, though McGlowan does suggest all the money BP donated to Candidate Obama should be looked into. Meanwhile, Watergate appears to be a popular comparison this week: Rep. Darrell Issa today suggested the debacle over the White House’s Joe Sestak job offer could also be Obama’s Watergate.
