Rep. Peter King To Chris Matthews: We’re At ‘A Real Crossroads’ In Our Relationship With Pakistan
Proof that today was a special day for the nation to come together can be seen with one of the guests Chris Matthews interviewed on Hardball. Republican Congressman from New York Peter King appeared on the show to discuss President Obama‘s success in capturing and killing Osama bin Laden, which was somewhat surprising given that Matthews in the past repeatedly described King’s hearings on Muslim extremism as “show trials” and “appalling.”
King didn’t object to Obama’s decision not to release the photos of Bin Laden’s body, understanding that the President had a difficult decision to make. And King also declared that it was impossible for him to believe that someone in the Pakistani government didn’t know Bin Laden was living there. Matthews described Pakistan’s leaders as having “chutzpah” for claiming to be offended when we didn’t inform them of the raid. And King concluded the overall friendly conversation, declaring that we’re at “a real crossroads in our relationship with Pakistan.”
