Rep. West: Obama Is A ‘Rigid Ideologue’ Leading By ‘Intimidation And Scare Tactics’
Republican Congressman Allen West appeared on Fox News and didn’t hold back with his criticism of President Obama’s leadership style and economic policies. Martha MacCallum wondered whether West was worried, like Obama, that if the debt ceiling isn’t raised then social security checks might not be sent out? West simply stated, “I don’t believe that’s the case.”
West suggested there was something he was more concerned with than simply worrying about whether a budget compromise could be reached:
“My concern is that we have a President that is not willing to do his job and that is to prioritize the spending. That he is digging in his heels, being very intransigent, and he’s being a rigid ideologue. And he must understand that every single one of his economic policies have failed. So I think it’s time that he realize that he does not have the moral high ground in this argument.”
Those certainly are some fighting words, and West wasn’t done, alleging that Obama’s leadership is by “intimidation and scare tactics and that’s not what a leader really does.” Instead, West argued for real spending cuts, not the “fairy dust” kind spread out over ten years, and reiterated that tax hikes are a non-starter for Republicans in any debate. With such tough-talking statements, it’s certainly easy to see why West is fast becoming a favorite with the Tea Party supporters.
