Tom Hanks Introduces New HBO Miniseries On…Breakfast Pastries
In an interview with David Letterman, film star Tom Hanks, renown auteur of cinema Americana, announced he was planning on releasing a brand new HBO miniseries.
“They said America would never defeat Japan’s war machine,” a voiceover hums. “They said America would never put a man on the moon and they said Bert Loomis would never see his dream realized. From the producers of From the Earth to the Moon comes the story of one man with an extraordinary vision.”
Then, up popped Hanks in a Cosby sweater chewing on a bearclaw.
“Do I love jelly doughnuts!” Hanks’ thoughts proclaim. “How can I make this better? I know, I’ll make it flat, and square, no– rectangular!”
“Pop tarts!” the voiceover exclaims. “An 11 part miniseries event. Coming soon to HBO…”
“It’s not a rectangle!”
Hanks again shows he has a keen knack for not taking himself too seriously in this self-parody of his penchant for austere war and space programming.
