Trump Continues to Express Anger With Sessions: ‘I am Disappointed in the Attorney General’

At a joint press conference with the Lebanese Prime Minister today, President Donald Trump was asked about his continued public attacks on his “beleaguered” attorney general, Jeff Sessions. In the wake of a Wall Street Journal interview where he continued to criticize his AG, Trump stated that he wasn’t trying to let Sessions twist in the wind to make him resign.

However, he did want it to be known that he wasn’t happy with Sessions.

“I am disappointed in the attorney general,” POTUS stated. “He should not have recused himself almost immediately after he took office, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me prior to taking office, and I would have, quite simply, picked somebody else.”

He added that he thinks Sessions’ recusal in the Russia probe is “unfair to the presidency.” These comments echo what he said during the wide-ranging New York Times interview where he first made his dissatisfaction with Sessions public.
