Trump Blasts Murkowski: She’ll ‘Never Recover’ from Voting ‘No’ on Kavanaugh

President Donald Trump suggested Sen. Lisa Murkowski will pay a hefty price for not voting ‘yes’ to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Speaking to the Washington Post during a brief phone interview, Trump said the Republican from Alaska will “never recover.”
“I think she will never recover from this,” Trump told WaPo. “I think the people from Alaska will never forgive her for what she did.”
He also praised Maine Senator Susan Collins for deciding to vote for Kavanaugh.
“I think what Susan Collins did for herself was incredibly positive,” Trump stressed. “It showed her to be an honorable, incredible woman. I think she’s got a level of respect that’s unbelievable. I really mean it.”
On Friday, both Collins and Murkowski delivered lengthy floor speeches explaining their reasoning behind their votes.
“We’ve heard a lot of charges and counter-charges about Judge Kavanaugh. But as those who have known him best have attested, he has been an exemplary public servant, judge, teacher, coach, husband and father,” Collins said during her floor speech that essentially sealed the deal on Kavanaugh’s nomination.
Later the same day, Murkowski said this about her reasons why she could not vote ‘yes’: “After the hearing that we all watched last week, last Thursday, it became clear to me, or was becoming clearer, that that appearance of impropriety has become unavoidable.”
Murkowski voted ‘no’ during the procedural vote. During the final vote, Murkowski actually voted ‘present’ rather than vote “no,” a nod to her colleague who was away from the Senate floor for his daughter’s wedding. Her ‘present’ had no impact on the outcome of the vote.
