Critics Flay Fox Host Trashing Kimmel — Days After Apologizing For That Killing Homeless People Thing

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade was flayed by prominent critics on social media over a rant about ousted late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and “network standards” — just days after he apologized for suggesting noncompliant mentally ill homeless people be executed.

On Thursday night’s edition of Fox News Channel’s The Ingraham Angle, guest host Kilmeade opened the show with a commentary about Kimmel’s suspension under intimidation that struck a nerve with X/Twitter users:

BRIAN KILMEADE: So Kimmel later went on to say that Trump was grieving over Kirk’s death like a four-year-old mourns over a goldfish. More on that later.

The point is that Kimmel’s comments went way too far for some television executives.

Not for me, not for you, but for them. And they turned up the heat on Kimmel, the host, to calm down the rhetoric.

That bit of commentary about “standards” set critics off when it went viral. Many pointed out that it came days after Kilmeade — to his credit — apologized for remarks about mentally ill homeless people who don’t “take the resources that we’re going to give”:

LAWRENCE JONES: Put him in a mental institution, put him in a jail, and you guys figure it out. But people having to duck and dive on the trains and the buses, walking through the street, this is one case, but this is happening all across the country, and it’s not a money issue. They have given billions of dollars to mental health and the homeless population. A lot of them don’t want to take the programs, a lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary. You can’t give them a choice. Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you and — or you decide that you are going to be locked up in jail. That’s the way it has to be now.

BRIAN KILMEADE: Or involuntary lethal injection.

JONES: Yeah.

KILMEADE : Or something. Just kill them.

An avalanche of X/Twitter users ripped Kilmeade over the juxtaposition. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) wrote, “Says the guy who declared we should execute homeless people on television.”

“Bold to send out the guy who apologized this week for saying we should give homeless people lethal injections en masse,” wrote liberal media watchdog Matthew Gertz.

Liberal influencer Brian Tyler Cohen wrote, “If only Kimmel had merely called for the extermination of the homeless population, am I right
@kilmeade?”

Zeteo founder Mehdi Hasan wrote, “This guy is saying this? The ‘kill the homeless’ TV host? I feel like the writer’s room is just making fun of us at this point with their unrealistic dialogues and plot twists.”

Dozens more made similar points.
